Who Are the Hundred Greatest Characters?

The current issue of Entertainment Weekly magazine names its 100 greatest characters in pop culture from the past 20 years. And the winner is…Homer Simpson!
Woo hoo!
The editors at EW decided on the iconic, animated paterfamilias because “he’s lazy, rash, and incompetent, not to mention a tragic speller. These are not good qualities in a mate, friend, co-worker, or dad. They can, however, make for great comedy.” Dan Castellaneta, who’s voiced Homer for 21 seasons, sums it up nicely: “As Homer might say, ‘I’m honored, confused, and hungry.’”
Ranking at #2 is J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter, followed by Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Then at #4 there’s Tony Soprano and #5 is Heath Ledger’s indelible, Oscar winning Joker from 2008’s “The Dark Knight.
Here’s the rest of the top twenty:
6. Rachel Green “Friends”
7. Edward Scissorhands
8. Hannibal Lecter
9. Carrie Bradshaw
10. Spongebob Squarepants
11. Cosmo Kramer “Seinfeld”
12. Fox Mulder and Dana Scully “The X Files”
13. Jack Sparrow “Pirates of the Carribean”
14. Jeff “The Dude” Lebowski
15. Shrek
16. Bridget Jones
17. Lara Croft
18. Sue Sylvester “Glee”
19. Morpheus “The Matrix”
20. Ally McBeal
Browsing through the rest of the top 100, there are several characters that should have, in our humble opinion, ranked higher. I mean, Forrest Gump at #31? Come on. EVERYONE knows who Forrest Gump is. He’s practically an adjective at this point. Also, Morpheus is at #19 but Edward Cullen is at #53? The “Twilight” phenomenon is massive, and he’s the force behind it. And Bridget Jones is #16, yet Thelma & Louise are all the way down at #58? Please.
Oh, and one last question. WHERE’S UGLY BETTY??
What do you think? Are your favorite characters on the list? Who should have been ranker higher? Or lower?
Woo hoo!

LOOOVEEE jack sparrow!!!!!!!
haaateee twilight!!
I really like charlie harper and jake from two and a half men...
and Buffy n_n should be #1 and kill that punk Edward Cullen
Stephen Colbert
Elmo
Michael from The Office
And no Edward Cullen. Please.
I mean i like Homer and everything but there are far more characters with such a complex personality that make a movie or tv show worth watching...like House..i mean his character is just so complex....and i wish Captain Jack Sparrow would have placed higher (like 3 or 4)
P.S. I hate Sue from Glee..haha she's funnny though..
OO and i like the way that Edward is in 53, i mean i like Twilight, a lot! but the character is just so perfect that is not original...because he just exists in dreams..but ppl like Harry Potter, Forrest Gump, the Joker...even Spongebob and Homer (whom are both stupid) but they at least have a humanistic side that lets ppl know that they can be real given that ppl can relate to them (well maybe not that much w/homer).
LoL....just giving my humble opinion.
Definitely.
Then at #02 would probably be InuYasha, because he's the second funniest thing I've ever watched! xD Hilarious!
And I love every character except Meiling Li from Card Captor Sakura, I love Joe Carpenter from Burst Angel, the Elric brothers from Fullmetal Alchemist, EVERYONE on Friends (where are the others on that list?!), Shane from The L Word (the reason why I could endure watching it, she and Alice were hilarious!), well, Alice, Aladdin, Mulan, Ariel... most I picked were drawings, hehe!
Oh, I almost forgot the Cartoon Network characters! I feel ashamed of myself!
And what about the Addams Family? Not cool, guys, not cool...
