We can now put all the speculation of drugs, booze and even foul play (we're looking at you, Nancy Grace) aside when it comes to Whitney Houston's cause of death. Because the Los Angeles County coroner's office has officially ruled the late R & B singer's death as an "accidental drowning."

Well, specifically, the report says the official cause of death is "drowning and effects of atherosclerotic heart disease and cocaine use." So, we guess it's more of a combination of those three factors. An earlier toxicology report had found cocaine, marijuana, Xanax, Benadryl and Flexeril all in Houston's body, but apparently only the cocaine and some metabolites (the substance produced by metabolizing all of those drugs) contributed to Houston's death. Are you surprised by Whitney Houston's official cause of death? Or does it sound about right to you?

Sounds right - absolutely. No one would tarnish her because she is/was a singing icon. The authorities downplayed drugs as the initial cause, because, well hell this is California, the "flauntingly "drugs are us" capitol of the United States.

I had already heard she had drowned. It is what LED to the drowning that was in question. I was surprised about the heart issues, but it makes sense with a stimulant after all the other substances she had been using.

I suspected that she may have had a weak heart due to her past drug use. Xanax and Benadyl can be a bad combination so i don't know how much a role her current cocaine use played in her death. Wonder where she got the Xanas and Benadyl? Aren't those legal drugs? I will miss her wonderful singing. May she rest in peace.

I am surprised her death was ruled "accidental" the bottom line is, there would be no drowning if not for the cocaine found in her system. I doubt very much if this weren't a celebrity death, the results would have read much differently.Whitney died due to her continued drug use, no more, no less.

It is so sad how she died...but the drugs over took her and this is what happens ! Her heart was so weak from the cocaine that does damage to the heart over time! It was a combination of many things that happen that made her drown in the bath tub. Whitney clearly need help and the sad thing she never really did get it! . I was NOT surprised by the findings ...I had been a Nurse and worked in ER in hospitals and I have seen it all !

Just another story of a person that didn't love themself enough. They have talent, make mega bucks and surround themselves with "yes" people. This lady had a daughter that is now going down the same path. You have to at least respect yourself, then addiction isn't an option.

She abused herself and partied for several days with drugs and alcohol and perscription drugs .I dont understand these celebrities , are they like 16 year olds who think they cant get pregnant? A 48 yr old woman doing that to her body , it is a wonder she didnt go long ago. It is sad and she is gone and i think people need to let her rest in peace now.
