Music legend Whitney Houston was pronounced dead at 3:55 p.m. on Saturday at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. She was forty-eight years old. Houston’s cause of death is still unknown, however, sources say that there were no obvious signs of foul play.
Houston’s accolades include two Emmy Awards, six Grammy Awards, thirty Billboard Music Awards, and twenty-two American Music Awards. She was the first female artist to enter the Billboard 200 album chart at No. 1 (with her second album, “Whitney,” in 1987) and the only artist to have seven consecutive No. 1 Billboard Hot 100 hits.

In addition to being one of the world’s best-selling artists, Houston influenced a variety of younger performers, such as Christina Aguilera, Mariah Carey, and Jennifer Hudson. Houston also pursued an acting career, performing in movies such as “The Bodyguard,” “Waiting to Exhale,” and “The Preacher’s Wife."
However, by the late nineties Houston’s illustrious career was often overshadowed by her struggles with drug abuse, which caused her to lose weight, frequently miss performances, and made her voice raspy and hoarse. However, in 2010, after multiple stints in rehab, Houston declared herself drug-free during an interview with Oprah Winfrey and the artist appeared to be making a comeback.
Houston’s death, on the eve of the Grammys, will certainly “cast a heavy pall on Sunday’s ceremony.” Plans are already underway to include a tribute to honor the singer.

No one beats the deadly mixture of drinking, smoking and drugs .. sooner or later the mixture will kill ya....
:(
No offense.
But,,Whitney Houston tempted fate way too many times. Add to that when people get older and continue to abuse drugs and alcohol, their bodies are already worn out and cannot take the abuse like they could when they were younger and their organs were in better shape. She just used up her body and it quit on her. 48 years old and her organs probably look like Lindsey Lohan's face, worn out.
