I consider myself a fan, I saw her in concert in 86, in my opinion her peak. I own her first album, but never found any that followed worth buying- 1 or 2 good songs surrounded by grizzle-not unusual for the era they were released. That hasn't changed because she has died. She's lived on the strength of a few highlight moments and lots of ETV type coverage during her very static years, anything post 80s. Having to deal with "I Will Always Love You" the first time around was hard enough. But twice? Yikes. The fan base of either her or that song is predominantly female, and very defensive ones at that. Rest in peace Whitney. But as one friend said upon hearing of her death, "I thought she died years ago... oh, wait. That was just her career."

I only remember a few songs back in the early '90s. Good voice, just not my cup of tea.

She had talent, but I hate over-ornamented singing. Way too much vibrato, and very static in dynamics (always loud). I can't stand opera for the same reason. Too much garnish.

I hate how some people need to die before their music gets on the charts. (i.e. Whitney Houston, Amy Winehouse, MJ...)

The woman could sing... but just didn't do it for me. But she did spawn a whole generation of "lip tremblers"... she'll be remembered!

Never liked this kind of music, nor her style. In fact most entertainers are people that I would not care to meet, or support.

It's like with Michael Jackson. Everyone hated him until he died and then everyone thought he was awesome and he could dance and blah blah blah. You are fake losers who just want to fit in the in-crowd. GROW UP

She has a beautiful voice, but her main style of music has never appealed to me. How Will I Know was her first big song and my favorite. The style of most of her songs was too sappy after that (for the most part).

Unfortunately no. There are just some people you expect to be around forever. MJ, Whitney. I could go on pandora and listen to her music. Now that she's gone I'd like something a little more substantial, sentimental. So I'll likely buy some of her music. It's not a trend thing for me. In the future I can say to my kids, this legend passed away in my life time. But here's a piece of what she left behind.
