There was some great music being made during the sixties and seventies, the eighties was a musical wasteland for the most part.

Up until the late 90's I was always enjoying a lot of what music had to offer...even all the way back to the Big Band era, the music that my parent's used to play while I was growing up. I hated the boy bands and Britney types of the late nineties and all the way up to today. I am pretty disgusted by music today. I am either getting old or there has been a lack of musical talent since the late nineties. Maybe it is both.

The pre-disco era of the '70's......most of the stuff from 65 to about 75 before disco really hit big, but there is good stuff in every decade.

Actually Motown music is still being listened to today after over 40 years. And did you know what the most played on the air song in history is? Margaritaville by Jimmy Buffett. It is being played somewhere, at any given minute of the day.

I sang and played it today at our annual family reunion. We opened with it.

I would love your family. We went to the Buffett concert in Atlanta last Saturday, my 25th concert attendance, and it seemed like the best ever. His rendition of Margaritaville was rousing, as usual, and he changed a lot of the lyrics.

Drop by any Father's Day you happen to be near Rich Creek, VA......someone will be there even if I'm not anymore. The reunion has been going on since before I was born. Hope it continues when I am done.

I just plain like music. There is no time frame to it, really. A lot of what I THOUGHT was good then, I think kind of sucks now. There is a lot of great stuff coming out now, you just have to find it. You can't count on AM/FM radio to show it to you. You never could. The best examples of this are bands like Grand Funk, who all most know of them is "American Band", or Hendrix and "Purple Haze", Steppenwolf and "Born To Be Wild". This is why I love YouTube. It can take me down endless trails of wonderful music from ALL ages and genres.

I do enjoy 80's and 90's music even thought I was not even alive back then but I still find some hope in some of Today's artists... There's some big talent going on but you have to be open minded to see it!
