The numbers are in, and "Toy Story 3" took the summer box office by storm with $895 million in ticket sales. That's over $200 million more than the runners up, "Shrek Forever" ($663 million) and "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse" ($650 million).

That's bad news for "Twilight," which undersold the previous "Twilight" movie by $60 million. Had it made the $710 million it was expected to make, it would have taken a solid second place in the box office, but maybe the "Twilight" fever is finally breaking.

That's not to downplay the success of "Eclipse." By any standards, $650 million is a remarkable amount. Everyone and their mother must have seen it.

Reviews, on the other hand, weren't so kind.

Critically, the difference between "Toy Story 3" and "Eclipse" was even more jarring. "Toy Story 3" scored an unprecedented 92/100 on Metacritic -- that puts it up there with "Fellowship of the Ring" and the first "Star Wars" movie. "Eclipse," on the other hand, scrounged up a meager 58/100.

Who doesn't love sparkly disco ball flesh attack each other with knifes in their mouths and a whole group protecting a girl who REALLY needs to stop tucking her hair beneath her ear.

Like really, is it a hand spasm or something? Every word she says,

toy story is a total classic movie that everyone enjoys. kids, teens, and adults! ever since the first toy story everyone was hooked. toys coming to life!? who wouldnt like that?? story line and plot AMAZING! eclipse a horrible movie made based on a great book and story just like any other movie based on a book! a childhood dream vs a stupid vampire!? really!

Is this seriously being compared? How would Twilight ever beat out Toy Story? Its a classic film franchise that is charming, entertaining, and emotional to both kids and adults. And did anybody notice how the movies were released so that Andy aged close to real time. (he was a little less than 5 in the first movie, and 15 years later when this movie came out, he was leaving for college) Now i know that's not exactly real time, but still. This film is loved by all, but it must mean something truly special to those that aged with Andy, seeing the first movie as a very young kid, and then the 3rd when they too are leaving for or have started college. Or also towards parents of kids who aged with Andy. This is one of the finest movie series is the history of movies, and its being compared to a series that has a mono-gender fanbase? That's just not right.

I didnt see toy story 3 but i feel it has a bigger audience then twilight... there are young kids, and even seniors ... let alone the children that are now adults from when the first toy story came out... thats a big difference ... twilight fans are young screaming girls from about 12 to 25 and their boyfriends that were dragged along lmao.

There is no comparison. Toy Story and Pixar have both become classics to stand by and wait for. Twilight is just a fad. Who cares they didn't make even close to Toy Story 3.

The Toy Story movies are classics. They will beat the Twilight Saga anytime! I watch the Twilight Saga and I love my vampire shows but come on! It's the Toy Stories! They definitely will beat the 'cheesy vampire movies' as some people put that as. Lol.
