Both the National Basketball Association and National Hockey League have given sports fans some exciting moments throughout the regular season and most recently, in their respective postseasons, which are currently in play. In the NBA playoffs, injuries have done a number on potential championship contenders, with stars Dwight Howard, Derrick Rose, and Joakim Noah missing action, making things that much more unpredictable.
In fact, the No.8-seeded Philadelphia 76ers are on the verge of closing their series with the depleted No. 1-seeded Chicago Bulls. The once-lowly Los Angeles Clippers could win their first playoff series in over half a decade. The San Antonio Spurs are off to the second round, showing age is just a number for the veteran title contenders -- as it may be for the Boston Celtics. Likewise, the young Oklahoma City Thunder just swept the defending NBA champion Dallas Mavericks and are riding a big wave of momentum.
In the NHL playoffs, we've seen physical play, fines, and even suspensions. We've seen some inconsistency in officiating as well. But on a much more positive note, hockey fans have been rewarded with exciting playoff games, including some that have come down to the wire. There have also been dominant performances from the likes of legendary New Jersey Devils goalie Martin Brodeur, who helped lead his team to the Eastern Conference finals just a few days after his 40th birthday. So which sport's respective postseason have you been watching? NBA? NHL? Both? Let us know and enjoy this fun time of year for sports fans!
