Really we need more color diversity.
"Oh... another team who's primary colors are some combination of red white and/or blue? How refreshing... ... ..."
but yeah, when we play the cards, the diamond backs, the marlins (pre gay ass rainbow unis) and half the other teams in the majors, it all blends in.
Here are some of my opinions about MLB uniforms though.
I hate "softball" jerseys - color jerseys. 90 percent of them suck and they are usually derivative. Doing that sort of stuff in the minors and on the college or lower levels is one thing. But this is Major League Baseball. These uniforms should be timeless and classy. Adding a red or blue or black jersey just because is basically a money grab.
As it goes the only "alternate" uniforms I like are throwback or fauxbacks. Throwbacks are uniforms that attempting to directly reproduce a retired look as close as modern material will allow. Fauxbacks are third unis, usually used with more regularity, that take a lot from a perticular historical look but fit with the current scheme. For examples, I love the Phillys cream home and the Twins cream pinstripe. I like them better than the main home uniforms they use.
I prefer high socks and both solid or striped look great. I prefer natural stirups that show a sani sock but I'm coming around to solid socks. The only thing I wish is that more players would go high socked or that an entire team would push that as its...

I prefer high socks and both solid or striped look great. I prefer natural stirups that show a sani sock but I'm coming around to solid socks. The only thing I wish is that more players would go high socked or that an entire team would push that as its full design. I don't think the League should be involved if teams want to let their players choose, but I'd love to see a team like my hometown Cards go completely high socked.
I love cream colored home uniforms but I don't think those should be standard. As I pointed out I love the Phils third and of course I love the Giants regular home uni. But I wouldn't want to see the Cards or Yanks or Cubs in cream unis.
One thing that I'd love to see is teams look into a technology design that Under Armor used for a few college teams. The were able to generate a faux flannel pattern for road greys. It hasn't been used in the majors yet but its the road equivalent of cream homes. It looks fantastic.
I'd like to see them stop with the perverse money grab that is the "patriotic" caps every year. If they wanted to really be patriotic then they could simple put a flag patch on the side of the regular caps, but those wouldn't sell as well. I also dig home and away hats but I'm not too fond of third caps.
I'm a traditionalist. I like simple classy looks. I want the teams to have some leeway to make their own look, but with some protection against teams making outrageous "college" looks (like orange third jerseys).
This isn't football or hockey - sports that need clear ways to define players on the field.
