Be sure to vote for your Oscar picks with our Academy Award Quick Vote!

This year's Academy Award nominees were announced Tuesday morning, meaning the weeks leading up to February 26 will be filled with rumors and speculation. Michel Hazanavicius' "The Artist" and Martin Scorsese's "Hugo" lead the list with 10 and 11 nominations respectively, but there were plenty of movies with multiple nominations. "Moneyball" and "The Descendants" did well, allowing Brad Pitt and George Clooney to vie for Best Actor.

We put together a Quick Vote poll for the major categories so you can find your way around the nominations and get involved in the discussion right away. If you'd like to see a full list of categories and nominations -- Supporting Actors, Cinematography, Costume Design -- the official Oscars website has it here.

Ya, who deserves the award for "Most Overpaid Movie Makers Next Year"?
    Great Question

If The Help wins Im doing an oillie out this universe. It will be the straw that broke the camels back.
  • Lucy PanDuh 2012/01/25 04:51:24
I agree, The Help should not win.
  • MorningPanda 2012/01/24 22:29:02
It was the best of the worst, but then again, that's why I'm not the one choosing these nominees.

This is my pick, probably won't win cause it's not artsy enough.
  • freespirit Doug King 2012/01/25 15:16:17
When they didn't nominate Spielberg for Best Director, I knew War Horse was dead in the water. And it was such a great movie, too bad.

Why does everyone on Soda Head insist that Harry Potter is deserving of an Oscar....?
  • Bushie vinone 2012/01/25 04:50:28
    I don't...

Because Sodahead has a very young demographic and younger people are less likely to go see the more artistic films.

Uh, I have seen "artistic films", thanks. =) The help was a wonderful movie and made me cry, but harry Potter just takes the cake.
  • hari vinone 2012/01/25 11:03:47
no i do not - for me now i feel , its meant for children with some magic or some power
  • Wizard Hey Jud... 2012/01/25 22:59:42 (edited)
I already mentioned it is soooo good as a franchise...it requires and deserves its own special mention Oscar...but who can trust the Academy to see the special dispensation?

If they refuse to acknowledge the Harry Potter franchise in any way they will lose whatever credibility they have left with the public.

i picked this cause i never heard of it and there was no option 'none'
none of these deserve it, its just picking the lesser of the evils or bad, like our presidential candidates from all parties
  • Ben 2012/01/24 21:47:42
I've never heard of any of these.

    "Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close"
I have not seen them all yet, so I reserve the right to change my vote before February 26. I am just thankful that they did not nominate "The Iron Lady." It was the biggest disappointment of the year and I would have lost all faith in the Academy.
  • Lucy Tenness... 2012/01/25 04:52:12
Was the Iron Lady released in 2011?
  • Tenness... Lucy 2012/01/25 06:28:16
Yes! It just got in on time to qualify. Meryl Streep won the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Dramatic Film for her performance in "The Iron Lady." Michele Williams won for Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy for her performance in "My Week With Marilyn." They are both nominated for an Oscar for Best Actress in a Leading Role, so only one can win!

    "The Help"
The only one of the group I saw this year... most of my movie watching was DVD of old stuff

    "The Artist"
It's a truly amazing film. Runner up is Hugo for me too.

    "The Help"
    The Help really stands out.
I think Michael Williams will get best actress for playing Marilyn .
  • Lucy Wizard 2012/01/25 04:53:05
Yes, she should win because her Marilyn was amazing.
  • Wizard Lucy 2012/01/25 22:56:21
I will be in shock if they pass her up. All the buzz is her Oscar nod. Course Meryl Strep is up for it too. That might confuse the academy voters...who are peers. I think that Michael should get it based on an amazing performance however. She will be getting more money in her next films. Everyone wants to watch her now...which translates into box office.

U ask deserve it...it´s a big "fight" competitive now...but if we know and we´re surprised in many time for "judges" The Artist??...

    "The Artist"
I was mad that the artist lost to the descendants at the Golden Globes
  • Voicedude 2012/01/24 20:25:12
    "The Artist"
The inclusion of "Extremely Banal & Incredibly Hyped" without a tenth nomination in the category shows how the Hollywood Hype / Money Machine is still alive and well...
  • Tenness... Voicedude 2012/01/24 21:40:07
Any movie with Sandra Bullock in it deserves to win. I want her to win every year whether she has made a movie or not!
  • Voicedude Tenness... 2012/01/25 19:19:56
...who could argue with such logic!

I, however, am a voting SAG member, so I can only follow the rules of the Guild...
  • Tenness... Voicedude 2012/01/25 23:14:01
If you voted for Melissa Leo last year to win the SAG Award for "Best Actress in a Supporting Role" for her performance in "The Fighter" (which she did win), you are a great member of SAG and I want you to always follow the rules. If you did not, shame on you! Melissa and Sandra are the greatest!
  • Voicedude Tenness... 2012/01/27 17:53:11
To be honest, I voted for little Hailee Steinfeld of 'True Grit' because I thought she stole the show from deservedly Oscar nominated Jeff Bridges. But I was not unhappy when Leo won, as she was my second choice.

And yes, I voted for Sandra the year she won.... :^)
  • Tenness... Voicedude 2012/01/27 18:09:11
Thank you for your honesty! Just promise that you will always lobby for Melissa and Sandra in the future and introduce a by-law providing that they should get special awards every year just for being who they are.

You should get one too for being so honest. It should be called "The Honest Abe Lincoln Award."
  • KendraTaylor 2012/01/24 20:21:10
    "The Help"
Only movie I watched out of all of these, but I loved the originality of it, the objectivity of the piece, and the fact that it made me cry.
