Hollywood has long had a tendency of releasing films at the same time which have similar themes ,like they did with "Sleepless In Seattle" and "The Affair",and also with "Tombstone" and "Wyatt Earp" Both "Leviathan" and Deepstar Six" dealt with people working in underwater sites, and having to battle for survival after coming under attack by a huge underwater creature that was previously unknown to anyone.

Liked Leviathan better but it was not that scarey.

I actually enjoyed them both equally... I think Leviathan had a more solid story and better actors. But Deepstar six had a better monster and execution. just me though

Thanks for your response! And I think your assessment of the differences is spot on!"Deepstar" featured actors known primarily for their work on tv,and the actors in "Leviathan"were mostly film actors.

I'm movie junkie and as I've gotten older I have become much more the critic who watches moovies for what they are and not what many might hope them to be

Have you had a chance to watch any of the movies from Hammer Studios that TCM is showing every Friday this month?I enjoy those films because the emphasis was only building a suspenseful story, rather than being driven by special effects!

I've probably watched every Hammer Film out there. Growing up, they used to show movies every day at 4pm and they would always have monster week around this time of year... Hammer films to the rescue. Loved me some Chritopher Lee and Peter Cushing. I guess I know what I'll be recording these next few Fridays

That's exactly what I've been doing the past two Fridays! i'll be pleasantly surprised if they show "Dr. Terror's House of Horrors",which in addition to the guys you mentioned,it also featured a young Donald Sutherlandas a young doctor who begins to suspect that his new young bride might possibly be a vampire,in one of the four segments within the movie.

Thanks for responding! If you have a subscription to Netflix, both movies are available for instant play.I personally preferred "Leviathan" because it had some of the elements of "John Carpenter's The Thing" in it,because the creature took on characteristics of whatever it devoured, including their knowledge!
