"HQ - LONDON 2012 OLYMPICS LIVE"
But the ending with the Olympic rings being "molded" into the air was awesome! The flares coming out made it look like it was dripping hot, melted metal.
China also wanted to demonstrate to the world of their wealth and power among the nations and show how far they came since the cultural revolution.
It is estimated that the Chinese government spent over $50,000,000,000 USD on the Olympics, that is tough to beat.
The problems caused by the NHS are legion. As a result of the long waits to gain care, patients have instead started to purchase treatment themselves, even going abroad to receive care (heh heh, yeah here). Access and quality of care are at the bottom of the scale, and rationing of services has led to discrimination against the elderly. As with any government-run system, more wealthy citizens have a higher level of access within the system, and are much abler to obtain a higher quality of care than others. It is thus that the NHS has led to increased inequality in medical care received by Britons. You would think it's not exactly Olympic opening fodder. This opening was just propaganda and freaky bizarre.
Then again, I might be a bit biased because I was able to understand what was being sung. ;)
It was... I don't know how to describe it... too traditional? It was alright, I'm not saying it was bad, I liked the traditional bits and shows how prepared they were...but It didn't get me excited at all.
And obviously it's being talked about PURELY because it's the Olympics again, people are going to naturally compare the two ceramonies. Not because Bejing was "SO AMAZING". You seem a little upset or weirdly enough supprised that someones not a fan of it. Fact is noone is going to like the same thing, there's allsorts of different opinions...
For China the Olympics meant something so much more too, it was considered for many a sign that they were finally leaving their dark past behind and welcoming the world into their country. I haven't seen the Chinese that excited about anything before.
Also this question wasn't about the civil rights, it was about which show was more impressive.
