I'm a big Fender fan but I think it's important, if you play seriously, to have at least a bit of variety in your tool. I have a couple of Gibsons (a Kramer, Les Paul standard), a Washburn and a nasty old Ibanez to go along w/my Fenders.

Out of those my favorite is Gretsch or rickenbacker and MAYBE gibson ES-335. I have an epiphone les paul special II. one of the pickups stopped working after two months. I really don't like it -_- I prefer acoustic guitars anywho so.. good riddance. lol

Gibson or Fender is the obvious answer but there are some very good reasonably priced guitars on the market. Epiphone for example

no some people are impressed by a trademark...the best bottleneck guitarist i ever heard was a black man that came to my town to fish...and all HE had was an old silvertone... and on the other side of the coin a kid shells out 2K for a gibson and what can HE play...(you know the answer, don't you)...The beginning of 'Smoke on The Water' OR (if he is gifted) the beginning to 'Stairway to Heaven"

True... Personally though when I walk into a local music store or Guitar Center I look for sound quality not the brand name but I usually do go with a trusted brand like Fender because I know it will last...

of course it will you pay 5K for a guitar you are too scared to take it out of the box....I jam and make money with a 15 year old Epiphone Sheraton 2...semi hollow...$625 case included...for historical reenactments a $150.00 korean knock off...BOTH get the jobs done

At the moment I have a navy Squier Strat from 2004 that has slinky Ernie Ball's with a black fretboard with a delay petal included for about $300 and I've used it for the past 4 years
