Whenever someone says "I'm not book smart, but I'm street smart", all I hear is "I'm not real smart, but I'm imaginary smart". R u the same way?

Also both my parents are way more book smart than street smart and make more money than 90% of Americans.

No. I know book smart people who are functionally useless when it comes to doing practical things, like shopping for food, planning a trip, hiring an electrician, etc. They can ace a test but fail a job interview.

There are street smart people who never went to college but who are naturally intelligent. They succeed in life because they have the ability to navigate through the world with their bullshit detectors. They can read people well and are wise enough to recognize a good thing when they see it.

Great point. Absolutely. This is part of the "anti-science" and "anti-education" bias that - SURPRISE - exists in people who were failures in the education system.

no. i feel that there are different kind of ways to be smart that u wouldn't ever get graded for in any type of school. try goin out & living in certain areas n see if u survive. its not trying to boast but that what street smarts means to me. so no i feel a difference in opinion for me. hope it helps or just gives a different perspective.

I am not so sure that being street smart is smart at all. In fact street smart people are usually dumb asses.

Street smart people cant pay for a bag of chips and a coke, nooooo thats wrong, but you can steal them from a 7-11.

Street smart means that you know how to get along with criminals like gang bangers and wannabes by respecting their fake image and acting as stupid as they do.

    Street smarts is for suckas.

I known street thugs, pimps, hookas, weezels, niggaz, crips, bloods, tokes OGs, Samoan Kings and Russian hards. All punks. Losers.

Street smart people cant handle anything - thats why they are street, they can bullshit people sometimes, but usually they cant even bring in a daily meal.

Book smart on the other hand, at least they can get a job and move out of the street - boooo on streets.

Take someone from MIT or Harvard and stick em in Compton or Harlem. You'll know the difference between the two real quick

Street smart is a person that has a lot of common sense and can handle everything that comes to them.

Being book smart isn't imaginary. O.o where do you get that from? A person who is book smart could tell you anything and everything you need to know from what they've read but they couldn't tell you from experience like a street smart person could.

Being smart is not only about knowing everything. You have to have some common sense which is technically street smart
