The gifts are received. The stockings are unstuffed. The turkey is cooking. And the guests have not yet arrived. You have a few hours before the Christmas meal begins. A lot of us take that quiet time to cuddle up on the couch with a cup of hot cocoa, our new PJs or plush robe and our favorite Christmas movie.

Some folks can’t get through a year with watching Jimmy Stewart in “It’s a Wonderful Life” -- a good annual cry to make them appreciate what they have. Others go for a darker look at the holidays with films like “Bad Santa” or “National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation” to feel a little better about their own family’s dysfunction. For those who yearn for the classic Dicken’s tale nothing beats Albert Finney in the musical “Scrooge.” Besides, a little singing and dancing never hurt anybody.
Those looking for a more heartwarming and fun holiday treat revisit “Elf,” Will Ferrell’s comedic turn as the giant Santa’s helper readjusting to life in the Big Apple. Or for a more nostalgic look at a childhood when a Red Rider BB gun was the cat’s meow, some prefer to take in the all-day marathon of “A Christmas Story.” So, we've got to ask: What's your favorite Christmas movie?

“It's a Wonderful Life”+4Jimmy Stewart has a real gem here. Selflessness guides him to riches beyond his comprehension for him as well as others he has touched. It is a must watch. Also, you see the frequent remakes of classics meaning someone thinks they can do it better. No one has ever attempted a remake of this classic because they got it right the first time. National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation is a close second as a solid classic, but belongs on a different spectrum.

Must viewing every Christmas season. "So let it be written, so let it be done."
