We know we weren't the only ones who dreaded eating Oreos during our "brace face" days. And don't even get us started on saying "cheese" for a photo. What do you think is the most annoying thing to do while having braces?

I kissed a girl with braces once. It was disgusting, I had to brush my teeth five times when I got home. I don't recommend it.

I have regular metal braces top and bottom and eating bread is a wicked hassle. The bread jams all up in the brackets and between the wires and teeth. It blows......

Actually, what's most difficult is flossing. You simply can't floss. It sucks. I don't have braces anymore but I still can't floss properly, because now there is a wire glued behind my teeth.

Publicly, I avoided eating salads, green things or anything that could easily settle between the teeth/braces.

Never wore any but would think that you would need to be fastidious with dental hygiene to avoid problems a decade or so down the line, eschewing sweets would help.

Well, smiling is never that much of a problem. I still haven't been kissed, so I was never kissed when I had braces. So that just leaves eating! XD

But actually the worst thing about getting braces is the pain that it gives you the first week. Seriously, you cannot eat anything that first week.

I've never had braces, but I have friends that did and they would always complain about not being able to eat certain foods and food always getting stuck in the braces. Lol

Food would get stuck in them. It was disgusting. I never had any problems kissing with braces lol and as for smiling, well when I had my braces on I just didn't show my teeth when I smiled haha.

Been there, done it... but decades ago. In my time (60's) the worse part was the tiny little rubber bands near the end of process. Not needed for every prodecure, was for me, so eathing was, well annoying, messy, gross.

Couple other things. Getting to the Orthodontist. For me a long (over an hour) bus ride and of course on a weekend. Being a guy, the endless lecture from the Orthodontist, don't get in any fights, don't do certain sports, you know how much time he invested in all the work the cost, blah, blah, blah. Heard the same lecture over and over and over.

Actually, I felt that going to the orthodontist every few weeks was way more annoying than eating, kissing, or smiling. I hated my orthodontist, and unfortunately I STILL have to see them because I have to wear my retainer for life.

The eating for sure. Kissing wasnt that bad with braces but it did make you look like you were atleast 3-5 years younger.

Eating is annoying because it would sometimes hurt and food would get caught up in them. It was also almost impossible to eat an apple without cutting it or corn on the cob. The only thing more annoying than eating, was flossing. You had to thread it through like you were sewing or something.

I don't have a problem with braces. It's the bands that are the scourge of the earth.

3 days after my last appt at the dentist, I committed the ultimate sin: I yawned. Ping!!!

One of my brackets detached. Today it had to be reglued. It's not the braces that are a problem, it's the godd....ned bands.
