    The 8 minute mark? My favorite band is Opeth, and a 7-8 minute song is on the short side of their song lengths. I don't think song length is important when determining anything.

    Anyway, Dopesmoker by Sleep is pretty long... I don't know exactly, but I'm thinking about an hour and 2 minutes.

    Arlo Guthrie's "Alice's Restaurant" is the longest that I know of at 18:34. That's right, eighteen minutes and thirty-four seconds.

    Paradise by the Dashboard Lights; Meatloaf........Back in the day when this song first came out, the pop stations use to cut it off.....Which they did to quite a few songs back then.......Some of you Kiddies wouldn't remember the 70's, you weren't born yet, not even a twinkle in mom and dads eye.......LOL

    Argh, top comment already beat me to it - but "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" by Pink Floyd is a long one. But it's fun to listen to. I have "Echoes" by Pink Floyd and that one's well over 16 minutes long.
