Eliminate or at least greatly reduce the holding rules. Quarterbacks are not built to be hit by 300+ men. Give them more protection.

There will always be risk but the equipment and the technology around it will be the best approach.

I would modify one aspect of the game. The whole thing. Just completely eliminate it from our culture...

Not playing it. If you can't handle being injured, don't play football. The risks are common knowledge at this point.

Its certainly not taking away the kickoff like Goodell is talking right now. Next Goodell will be suggesting flag football... Edit: Oh if the NFL wants to really make it safe, just get rid of the thugs..ie Suh...

C'mon Man! Eli is just different than a New Yorker... He came from New Orleans... You know "Down South, just a Good Ole' Boy"... Peoples temperments from those two areas are definitely different... He isn't your New York Mens poster child so to say... New Yorks population is very much so much shorter fused than most other big cities or different states... My God both years the Giants won the most recent Super Bowls, coach Tom Coughlin's head was on the chopping block... Everyone wanted him gone because the Giants lost a few games but yet he delivers CHAMPIONSHIPS both times and will make it to the hall of fame for those achievements... Get over it New York... There are different people from different areas. We can't all be like you (hence the sarcasm)... Eli is an elite quarterback and he to will be in the hall of fame for giving you New Yorkers 2 Championships and really I do not see the thanks and appreciation at all... Its not easy to make it to the Super Bowl... You lose one game in the playoffs and you are done... Not like basketball or baseball where you got the best out of seven... "Just One Loss"... The odds are much better in other sports...

also some more harsh punishments to the players who intentionally cause injuries. in the pros make the fines higher and/or suspensions or benchings. for college players i say bench or suspend their playtime depending on the severity of the infraction. make the helmets like they used to be a little heavier but not too heavy so players keep their heads down. they made the helmets lighter that why there are so many more helmet to helmet contacts and head injuries than there used to be.

But at some point people just have to own up to the fact that these are modern gladitoral games and people are always going to be injured. 350lb linemen, 270lb running backs that are faster than cheetahs.....almost 7ft tall recievers that leap into the air to snap that over the middle route.....people break when impacted by objects moving in the opposite direction or stationary objects with greater mass.........if you don't want to get hurt - play chess......

Take the facemasks off of the helmets. While somewhat tongue in cheek, this will keep from leading with the helmet. LOL

When I played in high school, we had knee pads, tailbone pads and hip pads. I rarely see any of them in the pro game.

The tackling at times can be atrocious with poor technique, not wrapping up, and being out of control. Instead of just hitting somebody, with the intent to injure them, why not make a legitimate attempt at tackling them? This leads to the potential for injury. I can't stand when player hits the ball carrier, and the ball carrier just runs away from them. Getting back to fundamentals will help to reduce some injuries.

Give everyone a gun, this way everyone would be dead and there would be no injuries. Me, personally I could care less what happens to anyone who is involved in those ridiculous events. Anything with a ball is madness. Lucky though there are enough suckers buy into these idiotic events.

Best improvement would be to go back leather helmets. It would stop players from using their heads as battering rams and would force them to tackle. That will stop much of the problems.

I don't watch football at all. Don't know the Jets from the Penguins, so JMHO is from an unbiased point of view. The leagues (or whatever they are called) need to take some of the millions of dollars they are paying players and set up a system that while the guys play, they play......afterall they all sign contracts, all are adults, blah blah blah......but when they are finished there is some sort of program/ medical to assist those who were dinged in the head one to many times. Perhaps it could come from ticket sales, concessions.....

I mean, let's face it some of the guys who thrill and chill the fans every Sunday/Monday retire and face hardships.....you can buy a nice house and fast car with millions, but ya can't buy smarts.....

I think they already have that. There is an NFL retirement and medical fund. BUT, everyone wants to blame the head injuries for all the OUTSIDE violence, but they never look at the supplements and steroids. When my nephew played, the team Dr gave them all these protein supplements, sure, sure, he grew amazing muscles but was SO ANGRY all the time, and just ready to beat anyone who looked at him wrong. As soon as he had been off the protein shakes a month, he was back to himself, no rage, no freakish muscles. Hmmm

I have no sons, so I don't know anything about school football. I thought they were referring to professionals.....who should know better than to take performance enhancers or whatever you want to call them.....and that is very scary about your nephew.....

I actually know an older player from years ago....Some days he is like talking to a piece of toast....he was recently able to collect some funds from the NFL to help with his doctors, etc.....but it took them long enough, they dragged their feet and acted like he was trying to cut their junk off....It should be like a pension plan.....

well, if OJ is still collecting an NFL retirement, then there has to be one, but it may have been established after your friend played. We have a retired NFL guy who shops with us, and he gets a check and uses the healthcare plan they have, so maybe it is a newer thing.

Very few people know that the kickoff is the most dangerous part of the game. Eliminating it would rid the most. But it would suck to see it go away.

There is a new helmet with a soft crown that causes a little pain when you ram your head into someone. Also, coaches from pee wee to pro need to stop encouraging their players to hurt the oposing players. It does happen folks.
