In honor of Ridley Scott's upcoming sci-fi feature "Prometheus," CelebTV has put together some of the best and worst sci-fi movies of all time. Some of the movies, like "Terminator 2," are indisputable classics. Others, like "Plan 9 From Outer Space," are so terrible they're great. Check out the clip below for some truly awful and amazing flicks.

There's plenty of bad sci-fi out there, but when it comes to good sci-fi, your options are limited. You could go with an obvious choice, like the original "Star Wars" trilogy or Steven Spielberg's "Jurassic Park" classic; or you could go with something a little more subtle, like Scott's cult favorite "Blade Runner" or "2001: A Space Odyssey." If you don't see your favorite, feel free to write it in. The choice for best sci-fi movie is yours to make!

Star Wars gave SciFi the respect it never had because of movies like Plan 9 From Outer Space. If it weren't for Star Wars, most of the other movies on this list might never have been made.

I was looking for an "All of the above" selection! But if I have to pick only one, I'd probably go with either Blade Runner or Alien. Any of these is worthy of the title, even Ed Wood's classic!

A difficult choice but I've gone for this because of the sheer Frenchy, Bessony, ridiculousness of it all!

Also... where are Starship Troopers, Planet of the Apes, X-Men, Star Trek, and bazillions more!

Thank God Avatar wasn't #1. There are some great sci-fi movies on here, but had to go with Star Wars.

I like a lot of these. Hard to choose.

Prometheus was NOT as good as the ad made it look, unfortunately.

God damn that was a tricky choice, i had to go with what one i would watch again right now. You guys sure dont make it an easy pick. On a side note, Avatar was bollocks, it was only fancy version of pocahontas, honestly.

For a movie made in 1982, the question of what makes us human is the ultimate question -- and Rutger Hauer nails it. Alien was the scarriest movie ever, Jurassic Park was a great adventure(all of Michael Crichton's books are), Terminator 2 is one of my favorites, and Matrix is great, but will wear with time. I love all the "other" voters! I'm the only person I know who found "Star Wars" boring. Can't help it. A kid movie.

My favorite, well not really science fiction, but futuristic. "Escape From New York" with Kurt Russell as Snake Plisskin. The running gag line throughout the movie: everybody keeps saying to him (Snake) "Snake Plisskin, I've heard of you......I heard you were dead." For a cheaply made movie, this is a classic.

to be fair, it's a prequel to alien, so putting it on there would be the same as differentiating between star wars 4, 5, and 6.

perhaps you refer to "Tripping the Rift"?? I enjoyed that, but it wasnt serious sci-fi material ... however Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy actually is serious sci-fi material with sarcastic/sardonic humor

Of those listed, Terminator 2 is the best. I prefer the "Special Edition." That's the one that ended with the destructive chain of events permanently broken. The one in which Sarah Connor said that Judgment Day came and went, and--meh!

"I wanted to grab everyone I met and shake them and say, 'This day is a gift!' Instead I got drunk."

And in that future, John Connor was now The Honorable John Connor, United States Senate.

Jurassic Park was a classic film that had a moral to the story about what happens when we humans try playing God.

I will be honest Star Wars has a unfair advantage!

It does span 6 films several spin-offs and loads of merchandise.

And the franchise has been part of several generations of childhoods.

I tend to agree but I fear a lot of people will say that the six films is a bit of a double edged sword! Jar Jar Binks takes a lot of living down!
