It depends on what age you're talking about. Between 4 and 8 it wasn't a band, just RIcky Nelson. Ages 8-10 it was the Beatles. Ages 10-12 it was Herman's Hermits. 13-14 the Monkees.
When I was a kid, it was the Beatles. Along with the Rolling Stones, Dave Clark 5, then came the Monkees. Pretty lame compared to smashed pumkins and zombies.....
in grade school I loved new kids on the block :D they were like the justin fever obsession but now not so much....highschool any grudge bands were my favs.
.... I still have a lot more. My father was a music freak, so I listened to a lot of stuff as well. I remember rocking out to Led Zep and Kiss. But the ones above were significant when I was young.
I cut my teeth on Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, and Deep Purple thanks to older teenagers in the neighborhood, and some hand me down music. And they all still rank as faves.
The Guess Who, Led Zeppelin, Hendrix, Roy Orbison, The Who, Janis, Buffalo Springfield, Yardbirds, Peter Paul and Mary, Dylan, so many. It was a magical time to grow up.
They're still up there on my list.
when i got older i started to love
Duran Duran :-D
Van Halen
Def Leppard
AC/DC
Foreigner
