It reminded me a bit of Event Horizon and Sunshine, which are two of my favourite Sci-Fi movies.

While I can see the similarities, I wasn't much impressed by Event Horizon; the plot was too convoluted and implausible, IMO.

I never saw 'Sunshine.'

Event Horizon was one of my first sci-fis, and it was what made me a fan of the genre. For a 1997 film, I think it was pretty well done. I'm a big fan of Sam Neill which helped.

Sunshine is similar to Event Horizon, though much slower paced and far more technical. Cillian Murphy stars in it, he's absolutely brilliant.

I just saw that recently myself, and I agree it was pretty creepy. James Wan did a much better job on that than on Dead Silence.
