Battleground (1949). Excellent authenticity and production values for its time, which took advantage of the organizational peculiarities of 1944 airborne divisions to ensure that the small unit - a platoon in a Glider Infantry battalion - that was depicted in the story did not exist at the time of the story, and therefore no real soldier (living or dead) could be impugned or otherwise singled out from the cast of wholly fictional characters.
Surprising to see mention of *A Walk in the Sun*, but welcome. Remarkable reflection of the "fog of war" that envelops the infantry soldier in the approach to the forward edge of the battle area.
