Athletics. Team Sports shouldn't be part of the Olympics.

The Track & Field finals are fun to watch. The gymnastics is okay along with baseball.

What used to be called Track and Field, I think it is now called Athletics; Swimming; Fencing; Judo; Gymnastics; Equestrian; Weightlifting; Table Tennis; Shooting; Archery.

I am going to be wasting a lot of time this summer.

swimming, I guess. I never watch the Olympics, but I know swimming is a sport. I love water (I cannot stress this enough), so I guess it would be swimming.

Something most do not know. Equestrian sports are the most dangerous in the history of the Olympics. More people and animals have been killed than in any other sport. However, now they have a new vest that will inflate when the rider leaves the saddle. This should really help.

How quickly does it inflate? And does it protect your neck too?

There is a connection to the saddle. As soon as that connection is broken it immediately inflates. Yes it inflates high enough to protect the neck. Christopher Reeve would have ended up with just a few bruises. I watched an equestrian event on TV when it was first introduced and a horse went over a jump and did what I would call a somersault and landed with the rider under him. The vest worked and the rider only was bruised. It was amazing.. What a wonderful breakthrough. I think they sell for about $500. Don't quote me on the price.

It is funny how some stupid people say it is a sissy sport. I would like to see them work in unison with a some thousand pound horse and take them over a six foot jump or over a six foot and four foot wide jump over water and up or down a hill at the same time at a fast canter or even run. I would like to see these people take the same horse and go through tight specific moves while appearing to not be moving at all during the dressage competition.

Jockeys are tthe most overall fittest athletes in the world. Trail riding with a guide on vacation is one thing. Serious riding is definitely something else. You are relying on an animal and your skills better be good. I joined a gym where they assess fat content and although I can lose some weight, they could not believe the lack of actual fat on my lower body. Gluts, thighs, legs are hard as a rock at my age. You are correct, this is no sissy sport.

Back when I was riding and training in dressage my thighs, legs, and ass were rock hard also. It is really hard to not have those when going around an arena with hands held out, stirrups up at a rising trot/posting, and doing patterns at different gates. I was just about to go into jumping when I got into an accident that makes that type of riding not possible. I miss riding so much.

I am happiest on the back of a horse. I know that someday it will end. Yuck. They say that one of President Reagans' worst days was when his doctor told him he could no longer ride. You and I understand that. Contrary to popular opinion, he rode English and he loved Saddlebreds. I miss Ronnie.....

I did not like Regan as a president but if he was an English rider I guess he could not have been all that bad. : ) I lost my ability to maintain balance and as we both know that is vital to English riding. I can still ride ( if I could find a horse to ride ) but I would just be sitting and riding in an arena or a slow trail ride and that does not offer the intense workout that I had loved so much back then. I hope that I do get to ride again even if it is not challenging and I also hope it would be on an English saddle. Where I live though western is the thing and English is not as popular ( sucks ).

I'd have to say gymnastics, both male, female, and rhythmic. It takes a lot of strength and skill to be able to compete in those events. For the same reason, I like diving, synchronized swimming, figure skating, and fencing.
