What is your favorite line from a movie and why?

MandaLynne 2012/06/29 12:32:53
There are many movie quotes I like and like many I can quote just about anything from The Princess Bride. However, my favorite line from a movie is from Secondhand Lions given by Hub played by Robert Duvall to his nephew Walter played by Haley Joel Osment. These words hold very true to me.

"Sometimes the things that may or may not be true are the things a man needs to believe in the most. That people are basically good; that honor, courage, and virtue mean everything; that power and money, money and power mean nothing; that good always triumphs over evil; and I want you to remember this, that love... true love never dies. You remember that, boy. You remember that. Doesn't matter if it's true or not. You see, a man should believe in those things, because those are the things worth believing in."

"thats all we need lainey. 2 cups of coffee, a pack of smokes and little bit of conversation. you and me and five bucks" "your a pathological optimist" "i take pleasure in the little things. a quarter pounder with cheese, those are good. so i stand here and i smoke my camel straights and i ride my own melt" "i might say things and i might hurt you and you may hate me forever and i know that scares the $hit out of you because I'm the only real thing that you have" (troy dyer in "Reality Bites") its hard to pick though. That movie has so many great lines.

why... its one movie that made complete sense to me. he was a character i have identified with since in high school.

    That's an excellent quote!

Mine is actually a dialogue between 2 Lord of the Rings characters....Lord of the Rings are my all time favorite movies...so go figure my favorite is from that, lol

Frodo: I can’t do this, Sam.

Sam: I know. It’s all wrong. By rights we shouldn’t even be here. But we are. It’s like in the great stories, Mr. Frodo. The ones that really mattered. Full of darkness and danger, they were. And sometimes you didn’t want to know the end. Because how could the end be happy? How could the world go back to the way it was when so much bad had happened? But in the end, it’s only a passing thing, this shadow. Even darkness must pass. A new day will come. And when the sun shines it will shine out the clearer. Those were the stories that stayed with you. That meant something, even if you were too small to understand why. But I think, Mr. Frodo, I do understand. I know now. Folk in those stories had lots of chances of turning back, only they didn’t. They kept going. Because they were holding on to something.

Frodo: What are we holding onto, Sam?
Sam: That there’s some good in this world, Mr. Frodo… and it’s worth fighting for.

I also like this one too...

Bilbo to Frodo: “It’s a dangerous business, Frodo, going out your door. You step onto the road, and if you don’t keep your feet, there’s no knowing where you might be swept off to.”
