This is kind of a broad topic, but since G4 dared to tackle a "Top 5 Video Games of All Time" poll (as if anyone could establish a satisfactory list) we thought we'd make things a little bit simpler. There are plenty of games out there with enough clout to secure an easy spot on the Top 5 -- "Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time," "Final Fantasy VII" -- but we're more interested in the open-ended answers.

We want to know what you think is the best game of all time is, whether it's a well-known entry like "NBA Jam" or "Skyrim," or an obscure title from your childhood, like "Buster Busts Loose" or "Jade Cocoon." From Don Daglow's "Dungeon" to "Diablo III," anything is fair game. We'll kick it off with a few canonical classics, but think hard before you answer. And feel free to post some footage if you'd like!

I have a special place in my heart for the original Pokemon Red/Blue and Gold/Silver Versions, but aside from that, I would've chosen Ocarina of Time. Kula World, Super Mario 64, Skyrim, Morrowind, Banjo Kazooie, and Conker's Bad Fur Day are all up there, too.

If there has to be only one, it was to be FFVII, it checks all the boxes for an rpg and even with the dated graphics it still stands the test of time. Not to mention its influence on other games and pop culture in general.

There can be no question. OoT made enormous advancements in graphics, gameplay, and even soundtrack, and set the standard for a fantastic series of games that followed it. It got stellar reviews at that time and gets stellar reviews now, 15 year after the release. It has truly become a legend. :)

Though on a personal level, I have to say I prefer the compelling story and depth of Majora's Mask.... :)

Totally agree for me it was more challenging and the fact that you only had 3 days put even more pressure on me. But it was one of the best legend of zelda games in my opinion.

At first I didn't like the idea of a three day cycle, but now I consider it to be one of the best elements in the game. In other Zelda games it was always "you must save everything NAO hero!" but MM really reinforced that by giving an actual time limit. And of course, it added so much to the story. (I wonder what happened to all those timelines you couldn't save....)

It also made temples a helluva lot more stressful. I remember totally panicking on the final day trying again and again to kill Gyorg, afraid that I'd have to do the temple all over again... >.<

I feel like Nintendo used up all their best ideas on MM... Now I don't have high expectations for future games... (jk, jk, zelda is always wonderful.)

Agreed when I first played it I was worried I would have to re do a temple but was relived when I found out I didn't. I also bealive that the side quests were a lot more challenging like the anju and kafi one and it was just an amazing game. But one thing that really scared the crap out of me was the stupid happy mask salesman guy at first I tought the game was broken cuz he moved from one positions to another. And I think that's true they really did use all there ideas it was supposed to be like a kids game but was far to challenging in my opinion for a kid darn game nearly made me go insane but it was still incredibly fun. the only other game I think came close to being as good as MM was twilight princess it was a great game as well and I really enjoyed playing it. But still my favorite has been and probably always will be MM

I saved Anju and Kafei for the last cycle... It was really important to me that they finish the game as a couple, for some reason. And yeah, the way the Happy Mask Salesman moved freaked me out a lot, too.

Twilight Princess is a great game, too! It was actually the first Zelda game I played from beginning to end... I think I've beaten it about 5 times now. I liked the dark theme of it, and Link taking on a completely different form brought a lot of new features and puzzles which improved the gameplay a lot. :) It's hard to say whether it or Skyward Sword would take second place for me.

Yea I decided to have Anju and Kafi as a couple at the end as well. I haven't actually gotten the chance to play skyward sword but I'm going to get to it soon. And I agree I really enjoyed the dark theme of twilight princess and just the way everything played out it was just incredibl fun and difficult all at the same time. I hope skyward sword is just as good as twilight princess and I hope future Zelda games just continue to improve.

Skyward Sword is great, I promise. :) Some things about it were much better than previous games, and some things were just not as good, but overall the game was really enjoyable.

ahh for total ignorance go to a paulpuke...FYI Dragon's lair was the first Laserdisc based arcade video...the laserdisc being the forerunner to the DVD disc...and while play was simple it was a fantastic game to play and the graphics were great because you were literally playing a cartoon.....the company that did the graphics would go to do The land Before time franchise and the American Tale movies....again BUT since you are a paulpuke you are ignorant of all that and too arrogant to learn

Well, I have never heard of the Game .. . . But I'm sure that for some kids it is fun . . . Of course, it's battery/hand-held, etc. . . . ? ? ? Probably. . . . ? ? ? IDK.

Man you can't say just one. There are different genres, each game has it's good points etc... I'd say Ocarina of time is one of my all time favourite games, no doubt. But I certianly enjoyed A LOT the 2D metroid games, specially Super Metroid back on the SNES.

OoT is certainly one of the "fathers of the adventure games" but I simply can't pick ONE.
