The London 2012 Summer Olympics are right around the corner, and soon most of the planet will be caught up in the breath-taking athleticism of the world's very best. Though the Olympics are technically a sporting event, they transcend traditional entertainment to become a spectacle of human endurance, willpower, skill, strength... It would take us a while just to cover the basics, so we'll leave it there.

"Olympia" by Leni Riefenstahl's depiction of the 1936 Berlin Olympics may not be considered an Olympic themed movie, but it is certainly a piece of art in its' depiction of the Classic Olympic sports. (Avery Brundage stated that it was "The greatest Olympic film ever made").

Riefenstahl was in a class by herself back then and helped pioneer many innovative filming techniques used by Hollywood today.

Had she not been infatuated by Hitler, her fame would have been touted more in Hollywood (where powerful Jewish influence shunned her).

Anyone who has not seen her film is missing something. Put yourself back in 1936 and watch the stunning film making techniques. She was way ahead of her time.

While "Miracle" was a pretty awesome experience, and "Munich" made me, literally, throw up as I watched it on television when I was 13 - as I watched people being murdered... "Chariots of Fire" has to be the most touching movie and Ben Cross (Harold Abrahams) made me wish to be more than I was.

Maybe I'm just an uncultured philistine, but I didn't care for chariots of fire, nor have I seen any of the others, except cool runnings, which I really enjoyed. Even now, just thinking about it I have "I Can See Clearly Now" running through my head. :-D

since I have not seen them all I felt I could not vote for the best theme. At first I was thinking of music because of Chariots of Fire. Most of them are probably all great stories.
