Question Entertainment

What do you think is the most overrated movie ever?

<--That guy October 03, 2009 23:00:56

It can't be a movie that everyone hates and hardly anyone saw anyway. This one has to be a movie that was pretty successful yet still managed to stink up the joint.

I used to love Kevin Smith and I even met him at ComicCon 98 and said "When the hell is Dogma coming out!!!???" something like that LOL I had all his Jay and Silent Bob movies through Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back but the toilet humor and profanity got to me. when were these funny again? that's how I felt anyways. I never even saw Clerks II. I just had it with Kevin Smith.

Almost every movie Steven Spielberg directs is overrated. ET was 35 minutes too long, Empire of the Sun was an hour too long, Close Encounters was 40 minutes too long and I could go on. It is as if he thinks everything he shoots is too good to cut out. So his movies feel like he is wallowing in self-indulgence. The only movie he directed in which the length seemed right was Schindler's List. The rest, including Saving Private Ryan, would have been better if more tightly edited and shorted by as much as an hour.

Star Wars. I don't even care. I'm actually surprised no one has said it yet, actually. The concept is cool, it has an awesome story line, but did we really need 6 damn episodes?! Do we really need spin offs, legos, toys, cartoons, and a million other stupid products to make George Lucas rich? No. So, while it is not the worst movie ever, it is extremely overrated.

And Lord of the Rings. Orlando Bloom is yummy, and it's a damn good thing, because it saves those movies from being complete wastes of film. Elijah Wood has the complexion of a bag of flour, and the acting skills to match. P.S., Merry and Pippin? Do it already. 9 hours of "are they/aren't they?" is just plain tedious.

flour acting skills match merry pippin 9 theyarent plain tedious

Ugh. It could have been one really good movie. Maybe two, at the absolute most. But 6? Come on, now.

Yea, I kept waiting for the series to get better. It didn't. I think I gave up after the fourth movie. Looking back I don't know why I kept wasting my money. I guess because there was this huge cult following I kept thinking I was missing something. "Ugh" is right.

It would have been better with a good editor; too many drawn out scenes purely for effect or playing on the audience's emotions. Chop an hour off and it might have been a great movie.

This musical called "Chicago". My exgf loves musicals so she made me watch it so many times I wanted to commit suicide.

Moulin Rouge too. Makes my head hurt just thinking about it.

Moulin Rouge nearly gave me an aneurysm, but Chicago was tolerable.

Frankly though, I thought Gangs of New York should've beat Chicago for Best Picture...but that's just me.

Many people did not like Casino, but I personally loved it. It was not as great a goodfellas, but I do not think anything can top that one in the gangster genera.
