What did you think of Fahrenheit 451?

Poet003 2012/06/10 00:23:56

I just finished reading it. I think its prophetic of what happening now.Newspapers are going out of print, t.v. is starting to resemble 3-d walls, education is less and less
personal etc.Maybe the rebirth of the intellect will once again come like a phoenix
from ashes of a dark age or bombed out town.
You!

Possibly one of the most intellectual, thought-provoking books I've read.

This book truely made me value my inner reflection and inner dialouge .

It was scary how accurate it was for our current world, of people thinking are considered freaky and keeping ear buds in at all hours so they don't miss anything that happens on their giant wall screens.

I am waiting for the day when all books are considered evil.

Fahrenheit 451 is a masterpiece. I read it first in my early teens, and have reread it at least once since.

I don't think it's prophetic at all. Yes, today books made of paper are being replaced by a more environmentally friendly, less bulky, and more communicative technology. However, reading and writing are not going out of style. Quite the opposite, the new technology is spreading the written language to people and places where paper and ink could not reach.

Its easier to brainwash people with a Kindle than with a newspaper though. Its easier to brainwash with a i-pod than a cd or record.

Only sad in your mind, not mine. I tend to think for myself, not get opinions out of a book. Have a great day.

    A friendly tip . . .

If a simple discussion of a book triggers your Obama hate fit, you've been rather severely brainwashed. Best lay off the politics a while, and learn to smell the flowers.

I don't hate Obama--why do you all take a little wit as being hate, I think that means you are full of hate not me. I was simply mocking the many Obama maniacs that are just like blind followers unlike any other president that I remember in our history-singing songs about his greatness--the media making picture with him in a background with a halo--come on both lighten up and get real if can't admit that there is Obamamania in some respects than you are indeed a hater yourself!

Looks like you are the hater I only add a little wit and not hate and you and your kind interpret everything as hate!

Yea my high school did have some great classics on the required list.
From that list you shared, thank you by the way for sharing the link, I have read 24 of them, one was just for pleasure, five were on the required reading for middle school and the rest were required reading in high school and college.

Fahrenheit 451 predicted Fox News. And the republican mantra: take your weak points and foist them on the opponent. Who's at war with Oceania? I forget... we all forget.
