What decade produced the best films or movies?

Most decades have great movies. For my it died the death in the 90s, perhaps when CGI gained more and more dominance.
Overall, I would probably say either 20s, 40s, 60s or 80s. Then again that leaves out greats like Star Wars, many Hitchcock films, Betty Davis films. What a difficult choice.

My favorites come from the 90's and early 2000's.

70's and 90's

pre-code...late 1920s till the Motion Picture Production Code become rigorously enforced on July 1, 1934

No restriction, great writing, acting & no reliance on computers & special effects

70's and 80's some of the best stories. Why else would the last couple decades be stealing and remaking them.

The early 2000s. Computer graphics had finally reached a point where it was both attractive and practical to use. High definition had begun its rise into popularity and a rush of films that could not have been filmed before were finally doable.
