Were You Rooting for the Los Angeles Kings?

The Los Angeles Kings have finally done it. For the first time in the franchise's 45-year history, the Kings can call themselves the Stanley Cup Champions. While the New Jersey Devils won two straight games after being down 3-0 in the Stanley Cup Finals, the Kings got the job done in Game 6. Actually, that's putting it lightly because the Kings demolished the Devils by a final score of 6-1.

“Everyone deserves this,” said Kings defenseman Drew Doughty, following the team's dominant Cup victory. “We got used to each other, we developed a chemistry, and we just went sailing from there.” The Kings' whopping six goals should be considered more impressive than they really are because they came against legendary Devils goalie Martin Brodeur.

Speaking of goalies, Kings goaltender Jonathan Quick was awarded the prestigious Conn Smythe Trophy for his outstanding series performance following Game 6. Not bad for a team that nearly missed the playoffs, eliminated the top three seeds, went 12-2 en route to the finals, and brought the city of LA its first Stanley Cup. Were you rooting for the Los Angeles Kings? Are you happy they won the Stanley Cup?

A lot of blood, sweat, and effort went into this game, alone.

After their 40 plus years of a dry spell, The LA Kings deserved to be the last team standing.

Way to go Kings, and fans.

I am a Philadelphia Flyers fan, so I wasn't really cheering for either team. I am glad that Mike Richards, Jeff Carter, and Simon Gagne, all former Flyers, finally got to raise the cup. Congrats to those 3 especially.

Of course! Love Gagne, Carts, Richie, and Williams! <3 Flyers, but love those guys too an always will. The Kings deserved it and worked their asses off for it! I wish all the bandwagon fans would be aware of the struggles they conquered...

If the Anaheim Ducks coulden't take a third Stanley Cup this year, then by all means
it should be hoisted by LA. I hope that both the Kings and the Ducks can each go on to
raise the Stanley Cup many more times in the future. Any sports championship that goes
to a local pro team, will almost always result in at least a tiny spark of joy and hope for an otherwise dismal and bleak Southern California.

I have been a Kings fan for years. I am also a Sharks and Ducks fan so root for whichever one makes it into the Stanley Cup finals. I am thrilled that the Kings won. They should have won years ago when that Canadian coach called foul on the hockey stick used by a player, saying the curve was too much at the end of the game. Anyway, very happy to see them win!!!

As I posted on my Facebook Wall:

"Even though we lost, I believe we played a Great Series. The Kings didn't get their shot out because we fought in Games 4 & 5. Look at it this way, we did better then other teams on the league! Many people doubted us after Season 2011-2012 because we never made it to the Playoffs, and yet we pulled it off! Yes, we lost, but we never gave up! We always Believed! I SALUTE you, Devils, I still believe you did a Great Job on how far you went! And hell, there is always Next Year to get this far again! Go Devils!!!!"

I don't think Bettman cheated for LA this year. They had a very impressive run. Bettman is a disgrace - as you point out - he did cheat for the Pansies of Pittsburgh a few years ago because he was not going to allow Detroit to become a dynasty. Bettman should be fired immediately!

I'm a Detroit Red Wings fan but it's always nice to see a team who has never won a cup and had such a fantastic season like the L.A. Kings finally win one. Congratulations to the L.A. Kings and their fans.
