Were 'Biggest Loser' Contestants Right to Walk Off the Show?

The biggest loser this week is the show's production team. According to TMZ, "Biggest Loser" contestants banded together and walked off in the middle of filming to protest the show's announcement that they might bring back eliminated contestants. They believe the choice would unfairly hamper their chances at winning the competition... plus, those competitors got eliminated earlier on for a reason.

Sources report that "nearly all" of the contestants agreed to walk off, and production has been completely shut down for "at least a week" while producers figure out what to do. The show's network refuses to comment, but the boycott will not affect the airing of Tuesday's episode. The contestants have not officially quit, but have apparently threatened to do so if producers decide to bring back eliminated contestants. Way to stick it to the man, guys! Do you think the "Biggest Loser" contestants were right to walk off the show?

Don't watch it, don't care, BUT I don't think it's fair to bring back eliminated contestants on any competition show unless the contestants know it's a possibility before they start filming that it might happen.

The contract states they are now property of the show and can be called back to promote it. They can say no - but why would they - they are getting paid.

It seems ungrateful to walk off the show when there are so many people out there who wish they had the opportunity to be on it. Not to mention it's a reality TV show! You have to know they'll pull something like this to keep people watching.

They know that show is for entertainment values and they are simply being used for ratings. This would not come as a suprise to me that they would bring back past contestants. They should be glad they have the opportunity to get free training.

That doesn't seem fair. I've watched the show like once and thought the way that the trainers were treating them was like hell, I was surprised they didn't go all hulk and smashed their brains out with a weight.

If the remaining contestants are still there it's because they've worked the hardest so they shouldn't be punished for that.

I have watched almost every season in awe of this people. I have a question for you don't you think there is some abuse going i. Here? These people are yelled at, starved and practically excerise them to death. I mean the weight loss is wonderful but dont you think it is for ratings. I understand the people sign releases and all it just seems abusive and i wonder how long it lasts.

One person worked so hard they were urinating blood. the amounts of white they lose each week even for people of that size does not seem good. I was always told that 2 to 3 pounds was a good goal to set. Some of these people lose 10.

Take a good look at some of these people. Hand-holding is how they got to be as big as they are to start with. What goes on here is called tough love and sometimes that's exaclty what's needed. These people are in real danger regarding their health and hand-holding is the last thing they need.

As for walking off the show, anybody who has seen the show - and it's been 10 years and how many seasons now - especially those that have seen it enough to apply to be on it, knows that returning players has been a twist since the beginning. If someone doesn't like the idea, don't go on the show. They had no right to do what they did and hold up everything for those who knew what they were getting into and accepted it. Everyone thinks this is the worst group of contestants the show has ever had. They are also the dumbest. To this group it's all about the prize money when it should be about getting the weight off and improving their lives. No one here is going to maintain their weight loss because their focus is the money and not their health.

I do not watch this show and I did not know it was a contest type of show where people get kicked out but if that is the case then maybe bringing contestants back would be kind of silly.

Anyway, Go Big Loser : )

This isn't the first time the show has brought back people. Hard to believe these folks were surprised by it. They already brought one couple back a couple weeks ago. The rest of the group ganged up and the sister/brother are now gone again. The originals made it their project to oust them both. Its all about the money this season, not the weight loss. Very disappointing.

This show brings back eliminated contestants almost every season, so I don't know why they are making such a big deal out of it. They should have known it was going to happen sooner or later.

On a side note, I haven't watched the show this season, but I did watch a little bit of this week's episode and I didn't like any of the contestants. They literally reminded me of a group of stuck-up tween girls in Jr. High. They constantly complained about everything and picked fights on purpose in order to start drama. This news honestly doesn't surprise me after the little I saw of this season's contestants.

Grow up! They should just be grateful for the chance to be on the show, working with trainers and losing wait. Who cares if eliminated contestants come back. If they can't deal with it.... *rolls eyes*

The funniest thing about this is.....the producers pull this one every season. In every season of the Biggest Loser there has always been a chance for an eliminated contestant to win a way back onto the show. Had these morons actually watched the show before getting involved with it they would have known it was coming up.

I can understand why eliminated contestants would come back. More reason to lose weight faster.

I can understand why contestants would be upset. It's unfair that the kicked off people get a second chance.

Final verdict: it's a stupid idea to bring the kicked off people back. The didn't do the work in the first places why would they the seind time.

I'm.. not quite sure of the rules the show has, but point being if you're eliminated you are eliminated. Simple as that. It really isn't fair whatsoever to those who are still in the competition (as they said), so I believe the threat was in fact necessary.
