Prometheus gave fire to man after stealing the flame from the gods -- at least according to Greek mythology. The Greek Titan ignited the continuous flame at the altar dedicated to the goddess Hestia. The ancient Greeks used fire to honor their gods. They light fires at many of the sanctuaries throughout Greece by running the torch at night between temples and altars. The original Torch Relay of the Olympic Games in ancient Greece began at the temple for Hera, the wife of Zeus.

The modern Olympic Games reproduced the non-competitive Flame Relay of ancient Greece starting in 1928. Every Olympic Games begin with a Torch Relay from Greece to the host city -- London in 2012. The trip marks embraces many nations, cultures, races, able- and disable-bodied persons to show the harmony and spirit of the Olympics. Dignitaries, athletes and "average citizens" have the honor to carry the torch for a short distance. The Torch Relay attracts fans and media along the route.

But some unofficial participants want to get their 15 minutes of fame by interfering with the Torch Relay. Today, a naked man with a fake torch got his minutes. One Torch Relay spectator described the shocking event: The whole town had turned out to watch, it was a massive event for the town and it was packed. With the river as a backdrop this man ran out from the lines of people carrying a fake torch. He was completely naked and had 'Free Tibet' written on his back. When he ran in front of the torch the police were a bit slow to react, he looked like he was part of the gig.
