There was a brief moment, years ago, when it seemed like developers were suggesting "Halo 3" would be the last game in the series, but sales were too high to keep it down. Instead, they closed out the "original trilogy" and began work on a new one. Now "Halo 4" is less than a year away, and 343 Industries revealed the first official look at the upcoming sequel this week.

The four-minute video explains that "Halo 4" will focus more on Master Chief, the star of the first trilogy, and expand on his character development -- but that's secondary. The real evolution is in the details -- bigger locations, sleek textures, updated HUD displays, a new sound effect database built from scratch. The game even explains why the Red Spartans and Blue Spartans are fighting in multiplayer. Watch the video below for more info -- and let us know if you're digging the new "Halo 4" features.

I actually enjoyed all the Halo games (exception: Halo Wars). I took them for what they were and played them and had a good time. Sure they had differences, but thats the way it is.

Lets see how long I keep hailing to him. I play for the story, but the multiplayer was a nice bonus. However I never touched Reach multiplayer again after my first match. I don't like it. All the added "features" like assasinations and power ups felt like they didn't belong. Hell they didn't feel like they belonged in single player either but I was only playing campaign for the story.

I loved CE on the PC. I was in a profession Halo clan even. You don't even know the half of it. I met a ton of amazing people and friends through Halo. I owe a lot of my gaming life to Halo.
Am I sick of Halo? YES. To me, 2 was utter garbage, 3 was alright, ODST didn't feel like a Halo and Reach was better than 3, but no where close to 1.
There's something about it that just is no longer interesting to me. Maybe I've matured, maybe there's just better games out there (there are) but Halo needs to stop. NOW. The things that made Halo unique are slowly being removed and the series is becoming increasingly generic. It's just become a cash-grab.
Please, end the suffering. Maybe one day my childhood could rest in peace.

I've played Halo and my friend loves it and plays it all the time, I liked it but since he new all ! He could fly and I had to keep up, Not a bad game! Sure that he will have it on the list for new games to get no matter what! just saw the Halo 4:First Look, better everything my luv for action and graphics alone will compel me to buy it, Hell what a old retired fart who's disabled to do except surf the net and play games!

Halo and Call of Duty are the Maddens of First Person Shooter games; it's pretty much the same thing over and over with slight upgrades in each game. Not saying that they're bad games or anything, but I'll be glad when they finally die out so that they can start selling something different at Gamestop.

now for call of duty i would believe you but halo? what do u mean exactly by slight upgrades? are you thinking of gameplay and graphics? first off graphics wise they have improved each time. if u dont believe me look at screen shots nothing alike. however on gameplay i would agree with u they dont just scrap there game engine down and spend 2 years writing the code for a new better one. they do just add slight tweaks to the gameplay. polish the shoe's persay, but have you heard the old addage if it aint broke dont fix it? to expect a sequal of a game to have a radically different gameplay mechanic your crazy. but yes sequels (spelled right this time) of racing, fighting, rpg's, shooters...etc just focus on 'slight upgrades'. all of em

Americans who don't have a lot of exposure to British people might think that Connor from the Assassin's Creed series might offend British people. However, most British people I know would find his smartassness to be comical. Yes, Connor is British. Can't you tell by his accent?
