What do Buffy and Abraham Lincoln have in common? It's a deceptively simple question, but there's a definite answer. Give up? They both hunted vampires, of course! As you're probably well aware, Abe was a passionate anti-vampire activist, and did everything in his power to combat the bloodsucking menace during his presidency -- something that often gets overshadowed by his other accomplishments.

If this is news to you, "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter" will fill you in on the details. Twentieth Century Fox released a new trailer for the upcoming film, produced by Tim Burton, though it doesn't give much insight into the plot. What it does tell us is that the film is not a comedy. It's a historic fiction horror thriller in the vein of "Underworld" or "Van Helsing." If you're into that kind of thing, and don't mind the bizarre juxtaposition of fact and fiction, this movie will be right up your alley. If not, well, watch the trailer for "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter" anyway. You may find it pretty interesting.

Read the book when it first came out. Finished the entire 500 page novel in 1 day. Gawd, I've been waiting for this movie for so long. Trailer looks awesome; albeit, maybe a little too dramatic and showy. But still... For the first time in awhile, I think I'm actually going to go to the movie theater.

Try the library. I managed to find a copy there, and only a few weeks after release date. By this time, most libraries should be holding the book.

It's an adaption of an incredibly original, creative book. So what the hell are you talking about?

Usuing a legendary president as a vampire slayer? Let's throw Martin Luther king in there....or maybe Elvis...its just a dumb idea. Hollywood could be making better movies... Like maybe a sequel to Battle La or some thing people actually enjoy.. this twilight world people are in...is just twisted.

Actually there are worse things floating in Hollywood...Like maybe the movie Battleship based on you guessed it; the board game... :|

At least this was based off a book battleship board game

A movie about a board game? Haha that's great. What's next a movie about a pencil that talks?

Yeah, it's stupid and what's worse is that it's trying to be transformers... :|

It does look like a transformer knock off for sure...but how does it play into the board game?
  • Nuke SteveMa... 2012/02/16 01:38:47 (edited)
    Nuke
It probably doesn't, They just wanted something else to milk and battleship was there, they don't have enough ideas to push so they're basing movies on everything they can, next they'll probably do a movie based on the board game operation where a the doctor will die if he touches the patients sides. lol

Don't give em any lame ideas. I did like battle la...I guess being a marine...getting to watch marines kick alien ass was fun for me. I am tired of the vampire crap. This battleship movie could be a good movie.. but they have over played transformer type stuff. It's time for some thing new. Cowboys and Aliens was a new approach at western/ alien flicks.

I agree, Battle LA was ok but I'll be skipping battleship though, I wanted to see Cowboys and Aliens but missed it.

Yeah I enjoyed cowboys and aliens....its the only one of its kind. Battleship I'm not sure of. I'm bord with those types because they always end up the same.... The only difference is I do enjoy a good naval battle movie...

But still they used one of my personal heroes as a media whore to make the movie and book popular. Why can't the use someone gay like Bill Clinton?
  • Omni Greenbay 2012/02/15 05:42:50
    Omni
Because Bill Clinton isn't nearly as epic as Abraham Lincoln. Trust me, the story is really good. And Tim Burton is a good director. It may look like a ploy to media whore Abraham. Hell, maybe it even is. But the author of the book never intended that, and so, the story and character of Abe is amazing. The only thing you can do is hope Tim Burton is able to translate the emotion the book possessed over to the big screen.

I have read the book ... I'll wait for the movie and pick which was better - the book or the flick. 'Cuz I find the book, a bit lacking ... though it's still good.

Book is a lot calmer, even with the action scenes, but judging from the movie, it "improves" upon that. Not really an improvement for me, since I rather enjoyed the serenity the book possessed, but for others, like you, the improved exhilaration of Abe's life journey should help :]

    NOOOOOOOOOO WRONG VOTE.

    I'm sorry.

I've read the book and I really liked it, so I can't wait for this adaption.

Edit: It looks like some people are forgetting the fact that Tim Burton is only producing the film, which pretty much means he's doing everything the director says he should do.

Lets see . . . the book is surprising well written for this sort of subject, and I enjoyed reading it. Historically, its a little far fetched. But its fantasy. That, and its being produced by Tim Burton.
