Lady Gaga angered Little Monsters all over Thailand on Thursday when she tweeted, "I just landed in Bangkok baby! Ready for 50,000 screaming Thai monsters. I wanna get lost in a lady market and buy fake Rolex." Though she made a similar comment about Hong Kong when she toured there, many Thai fans took it as an insult.

According to Yahoo!, Thai people wrote things like: "We are more civilized than you think," and "She came to our home, but instead of admiring us she insulted us." One fan even wrote, "Welcome to the land of counterfeit products, love. I'm sure there are plenty of fake Gaga CDs, too." Do you think Lady Gaga's comment was insensitive, or just a harmless remark?

If the country enforced international copyrights, trademarks and other civil laws, Lady Gaga wouldn't have said such a comment. We need people (particularly artists who get ripped off) to speak honestly about the crimes that other nations perpetrate against America and the West

once again hollywood lets its adoring fans what they really think about them and how grateful they are that they ever so willingly give them for their extravagant living. its not offensive cause i could care less what a meat wearing freak has to say about fake when her entire world is a fake.

Not so much the rolex comment but to refer to her "fans" as monsters. Doesn't sound very smart to refer to people who give you money as monsters. But I am sure all performers probably think this at some time. They just shouldn't voice it.

I did not hear the inflection of her voice ether.That says a lot about what is in the speaker too. I can't see Gaga saying that in a derogatory tone.

I just reacted to the question. I actually have a relatively positive attitude towards her. Her music is decent, her performances are exciting and I think she generally have the correct view of things.

It doesn,t offend me because I,m used to her putting her foot in her mouth on a regualar basis.A word of advice though. If you,re going to perform in a foreign country, you obviously want people to spend their money coming to see you. Don,t say stupid things about those people to tick them off or you won,t have much of a concert tour.

It's truth. If they can prove to me those watches and purses sold in that market are real, then I would think the comment was inappropriate. But considering people go to that market to get really good knock-offs, I'd say her comment was harmless and I'm sure she meant it playfully.

exactly. i had a preacher who collected "silly cheap watches" as he called them. on his birthday people would give them to him. he'd announce "so and so got me a silly cheap watch for my collection. I love it" the kind that was made of plastic and blinked or played a tune. he wasn't being rude he was just calling it what it was.

It was insensitive and a little strange, but considering she’s a lot of strange it’s not really surprising. For someone who “loves” her fans more than life itself, to lump them all into the role of beggar and thief was a little crass. (Even if it’s true, even sort of true.) She was trying to be flip and funny and it just came off as rude and ignorant. Yeah there’s a criminal element there, same as everywhere, but you don’t have to go and smear it in their faces. Name a place that doesn’t have crime. If she came to your hometown saying this, you mean to tell me you wouldn’t be confused and offended? She’s a guest in their country - they don’t HAVE to let her in. Maybe next time they won’t.

Wasn't she just whining on Twitter about how mean people are and how we should all be tolerant of each other? It seems Lady Gaga isn't all that tolerant after all.

By the way, we have plenty of counterfeit crap right here in the US. We just had two people in our town arrested for selling counterfeit cloths.

Hmm being a bit contradictory there but however. Did you know its actually a game amongst people to see if you can buy a fake rolex and bring it out of the country because if caught you get it taken from you. If you can do it without getting caught you're respected for some strange reason haha soo

Yeah, that's a little wrong. Thai people have a reputation for being nice and respectful. It is the "land of smiles." There are so many things Thailand is known for, why demean it with a comment so trivial? :-\

Don't you find the fact that she is perpetuating a stereotype that people seem to think justifies her comment as a reason to take it seriously? If I said: I'm going to Africa to go spot a poacher, would that be insulting to the African people?

I would have said that most poachers in Africa are not natives which is why they care so little for the land, but yes that is a valid point.

Gaga annoys me so much. She will talk about being who you are and advocate for gay rights but turn around and wear crosses on her crotch. She just goes for what will get the most attention.
