Was Kim Kardashian's Nude Photo Shoot a 'Work of Art'?

Even Kim Kardashian was outraged by W magazine's decision to use a nude photo of her for the magazine's cover, but the magazine is now claiming said cover was an artistic concept intended to illustrate the effect reality television has on society.

In this week's episode of "Kourtney & Kim Take New York," Kim was infuriated by the photos that the magazine's October issue used, which showed Kim completely nude, covered with nothing but silver paint.

She explains, "I'm more naked here than I was in Playboy. I'm so f---ing mad right now. ... [the artist] promised I would be covered with artwork. ... This is serious porn. ... You can see nipple. I feel so taken advantage of. I've definitely learned my lesson."

The magazine wrote in a statement, "In keeping in line with the theme of W magazine's November Art Issue, Kim Kardashian's cover was conceived as an artistic collaboration with well-known artist Barbara Kruger... The inside portfolio documented the career and power of Kim Kardashian as a work of art."

However, Kim later admitted on Ryan Seacrest's radio show that she actually loved the photos.

"At the time," she said, "I was shocked about how they weren't how I thought they would be."

Coming from someone who released their own sex tape, posed for Playboy, and posed for a myriad of other exploitative venues she sure sounds haughty.

She needs to realize that she's nothing but something for people without lives to gawk at. I mean, if she wanted to be taken seriously she'd be serious and do serious things with her fame. She doesn't and therefor she is just a celebutard spectacle and should be happy that people are still paying attention to her talentless ass. Bleh.

I'm always so relieved when I see I didn't vote along with the idiot masses. Question#1: CAN the human body be a work of art? Question#2: Do you think beautiful women are a work of art? Art is purely up to the eye of the beholder making this whole census kinda pointless. Everyone is both right and wrong at the same time. But in my opinion, art in it's purest can literally be defined as the beauty of both FORM and FUNCTION. People are just mostly dumb to think otherwise, especially when it comes to the human body and (shudder) NUDITY---oh gosh, sin sin sin sin!!

No. The problem is this woman took money to pose in playboy, and she has put herself out in the public view so to speak...why would she expect this not to happen? I smell a lawsuit in this young ladies future...But think she could send me some nudes???I wont publish them...

The human body can indeed be considered the ultimate work of art. Clothing is useful in cold weather but ultimately the idea that the body is ugly and should covered is religion based and not a healthy way of thinking. So it is art if a painter paints a nude but is trash if a real nude is photographed. What a load of crap. Photography is considered art too you know. How dumb people are in this country. The dumbing down of America is complete.

Ahem... This is a PICTURE.. With a headline and some alterations better known as 'air brushing'. ART is when you take a paint can, cover the wall, and get arrested for vandalism.. THAT is art (graffiti).. Kim on W magazine is a picture..

All tagging does is make a area look trashey But if kim walks into a room the art critics and most other guys gather!!I keep a watch for taggers in my neighborhood If I ever catch one he will be found the next morning tied to a privacy fence nude and spray painted from head to toe with special attention to his hairy areas !!!!!!!!!!!!

If Kim is calling it wrong, and it's her body, then it's not art. Going by Kim's response, the "artist" and magazine didn't portray Kim as they had said. I'm not the suing kind but, this would sure be the time to do some suing. She wanted publicity and got it.
