MTV is finally apologizing for "Jersey Shore."
Unfortunately, they're only apologizing for a single comment, made by Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino. No surprise there.
The Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation contacted MTV after The Situation used the word "tranny" in a potentially derogatory context, calling the comment, "one of the most blatant examples of transphobia seen on television," according to The New York Daily News.
The comment in question came during the show's reunion special, where Mike said, "If you have to think about it, it's a tranny. Stay away."
MTV responded, "We appreciate GLAAD voicing concern about the 'Jersey Shore' reunion special. The segment in question was certainly not meant to be insensitive, but in retrospect we realize that it was offensive to some viewers. We sincerely apologize."
The controversial clip was also removed from the episode and future airings, ABC reports.

Katie~awkward child♥ 2010/11/04 00:08:40Yes, that was offensive+10Jersey Shore should have never been aired. The people on that show have been consistently offensive, rude, shallow, and just plain dumb. It's sad that this is considered entertainment nowadays.

Well, to hell with them
And to hell with trannies who get their widdle feewings hurt.
Calling a tranny a tranny.
And so what if the word tranny is "othering (bothering?) to trans women"; freedom of speech is, most importantly, the right to say things that others find offensive.
From what you've written, I doubt that you have the qualifications to judge someone as honest as this person.
And, by the way, the idea of referring to a word by its first letter is an embarrassingly pitiful, frightfully stupid, and dismally desparate attempt to make a mountain out of a mole hill.
Crap TV will only produce Crap.
I don't think anyone even pays freaking attention to this stupid show, why should I care what they say in it? I don't consider "Tranny" an extremely offensive word anyway.
No, I am not transgender, but so what? I'm sure transgenders call themselves each other tranny's. Minority or not, it's not THAT bad of a word.
Oh, who am I kidding.
I do not appreciate the characterization of ANY human as an "it". It does not denote a human. The term Tranny I am not sure about, but to call a person an "it" really offends me big time.
The Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation abbreviation is GLAAD and that's offensive to me so I'd like it if they change their name to something less offensive to me. Come on people, really.
The truth of the matter is, transsexuals are bothered by more than their sexuality, this is why they stand ready, defensive at every turn. My call is they need Christ. They're trying to hammer a square peg through a round whole. The only thing that can fill that inside emptiness is Christ; they're spiritually suffering.
And sorry if you didn't care for my using the same approach on you that you used on me; it's not pleasant being the recipient of orneriness is it?
Beyond that, being trans has absolutely nothing to do with sexuality, therefore, yes, most trans people are bothered by more than their sexuality. Why not? Sexuality and, for lack of a better, easier to follow term for you, gender identity are two completely different topics. Thank you for further demonstrating your lack of understanding of this topic, in spite of your own desire to insist that you have the answers. You don't. You have no idea what you're talking about as evidenced by your next point.
I do not need Christ. Any "filling" I may ever need won't come in the form of "Christ." I am not spiritually suffering. That's not to say that I, and many trans people, aren't suffer...

I do not need Christ. Any "filling" I may ever need won't come in the form of "Christ." I am not spiritually suffering. That's not to say that I, and many trans people, aren't suffering. Would you like to know what we need? We need to be able to do just as you'd like to: try to live the best possible lives that we can. What we need is the same respect and dignity that every human deserves, that every human should not be robbed of without just reason. I need to be able to not have to worry about being denied or losing a job simply for being who I am, despite the fact that in being who I am I have hurt no one, broken no rule, and broken no law. I need to not have a 1 in 12 chance of being murdered in my life time. Trans women of color need to not suffer a higher percentage of hate crimes than all other hate crimes combined. We need to be able to access health care with respect for us and our needs, just like you. We need to not have to fear our doctors, or, for that matter, every person we pass on the street. I need the chance that a trans person will be murdered the moment they leave their home to not be ridiculously higher than your chance, even if we're engaging in the same activity.
Christ? He doesn't factor into any of that for me. If he did, though, I'd need to be able to have the same access to my faith that you get, without fear or mistreatment. The bottom line, above everything else, is that I am a human being, just like you. Excuse me if I'm defensive because unlike you, I have to be, because people like you are at every corner waiting to attack rather than treat trans people with the slightest bit of decency or humanity.
First of all I apologize for offending you. I am no better than you simply because I've chosen Christ and you have not. I'm sorry that you must live in such fear. There is a difference between believing someone is wrong and then harming them. All of us are sinners and Christ found it acceptable to sup with them. That said, harming those in sin should never be the actions taken as the Pharisees used to do in Jesus' time. There would be a lot of vigilante justice due, if that were the norm, to adulterers, drunkards, gamblers, etc.
Although I receive persecution for my belief in Christ, it's never caused me physical harm. I would, however, stand my ground if it came to that though. Standing up to mockery, threats, etc is the conditioned norm. We even have our battles when receiving healthcare when doctors stand ready to violate our Christian beliefs about certain procedures. Similar battles but way different.
I will erase the word tranny from my vocabulary so as not to offend anyone again. I had no idea it was such a loaded word.
If was insulting to anyone who had half a brain.
