A wise philosophy teacher of mine once asked the class, "Would you rather have one of your favorite cookies, or one-hundred decent cookies?" While this question seemed rather silly at the time, it brought up a good example of quality. A more relevant question this summer would be: Was Jack Johnson a good replacement for Mumford & Sons, or should another band have taken their place?

On June 14, 2013 it was announced that Mumford & Sons was unable to perform at the Bonnaroo Music festival and that Jack Johnson would be taking their spot in the incredible line-up. Jack Johnson is known for countless catchy songs and was nominated for Top Rock album in 2011 at the Billboard Music Awards, but was he the best replacement for the chart-topping Mumford & Sons?

Was Jack Johnson the favored cookie, or did fans end up with a handful of disappointment? You decide.

Yeah he's fine, although I'd rather see a band more like Mumford and Sons come in to replace them, maybe someone less well-known and more risky.

I'm going to have to say yes. First off, I don't know Jack Johnson, I've never even heard of the guy. I'm not going to say no because I don't know how good or bad he is. I wish sodahead would give us other options.

I like Jack Johnson more. But you could not pay me to go to Bonnaroo.
Nothing against Bonnaroo, I'm just not a fan of huge crowds and lots
of music I have no interest in. I live 15 minutes from the ACL festival
and I never go. SXSW is my favorite multi day event. 1 week of fresh
music from all over the world. Over 2000 bands. Music and art
everywhere in downtown Austin. Easy to park outside of town and take
a bus in. Tons of music to enjoy for free. Epic food. And I can sleep in
my own bed when I'm done.
