How could he have been gay when he said he's always been in love with Andie. And, at the end when Andie walks out after Blaine, Duckie sees the one chick looking at him so he walks over to her.

It's been quite a while Since I've seen the movie. But I'm pretty sure Duckie was in love with Molly Ringwald's character.
You might be suffering from the Jon Cryer effect. Everytime I see Jon Cryer in a movie or T.V. show I wonder if the character is gay.
