One, two, three peanut butter and jelly sandwiches! Sound familiar? You probably grew up watching Count von Count on "Sesame Street" -- and you're probably sad to hear that Jerry Nelson, the voice behind the puppet, died last Thursday night at age 78, according to The Associated Press.
"Every description of his characters describes Jerry as well," "Sesame Street" executive producer Carol-Lynn Parente told the AP. "Silly, funny, vulnerable, passionate and musical, for sure. That voice of his was superb." She continued, "We're having a rough day on the Street."
Here's a little piece of trivia for you: The Count is a vampire modeled after Bela Lugosi's interpretation of Count Dracula (hence that famous laugh). Whether you ... want ... Cookie or prefer collecting paper clips, click through our slideshow and let us know: Who's your favorite "Sesame Street" character?

Didn't like Sesame street and its' leftist, politically correct puppets. I especially disliked the voices of the characters, and didn't want to subject my daughter to the show's political agenda, or those loud, awful voices.
She watched other educational programs.
My daughter never watched Transformers either, and later in life, she actually thanked me for not tuning in to Sesame Street for the very reasons I cited.
She watched Reading Rainbow, Art Attack, and a couple of others.
Art Attack came out of England, it was a really good show, and taught creativity by making all kinds of neat things. My daughter loved it. Sadly, the young man who was the original host, died, but I think it is still on with a different host.
Note: not to be confused with the live-action movie adaptation The Last Airbender. Shyamalan demonstrated a talent for suckitude not seen since Ed Wood, if even then, in managing to take something that awesome and make it suck that badly.
I agree with you - kids are NOT political...So why are the writers and producers of Sesame Street pushing their left-wing agenda on a children's show?

I liked Snuffy before grown-ups could see him, but that was way back when Hooper was still alive.
My favorite was Grover but it seems he had to pack up his things and go : [
