a. they might be able to show ones ability to response, and of course reflexes, and memory in various situations.
b. no, probably wouldnt be able to test someones abilities in video games

    They use this type of stuff in the military for reflex actions,to speed up response time.

    I think problem solving and time management skills are also good to practice as well as measure with the right game.

    Acutally back in the 1940's and 1950's the US government had a secret research group that did nothing BUT play games as part of an attempt to find problem solvers. Chess, mahjong and of all things dominos were the most popular for testing rapid responses to visual puzzle solving.

    Yeah they used to teach the "spys" how to take in an entire field of view within a single 3 second glance and then pick out a specific section of the picture in their minds and see if they saw an irregularity about the picture. They went through 1000's just to find a few very good people to do this kind of work.

    Pattern recognition has always been a special thing for code breaking. The competitions for Rubics Cube were also used to find new potential code breakers today.
