USA today predicted our Olympic team would drop to the third place in the medal count

For some reason, the “experts” from the US Today decided the Team USA will win only 82 medals in total, one medal behind Russia and 28 fewer than Americans won in 2008. Meanwhile, after only 8 days (halfway), our team already earned 60 medals, while Russia only 35.

What do you think of USA Today Predictors?

PS The fanny thing is, Russians themselves (I'm in Russia now) predicted they have no chance to compte with the US and China and their goal was to fight with Britain for the 3d place ,
So much of the US "patriotic journalism".

When I read this headline.....Russia/China would win more medals than America,
I thought, "what is the difference in those countries?". It occurred to me that
both Russia and China's athletes who compete in the 0lympics are supported by
the state while our athletes support themselves and then support the US by
paying taxes on their medals. Some difference in state attitudes about the value
of having athletes winning gold!

The Cold War rivalry between the United States and the Soviet Union was pretty intense. The Chinese were giving us a run for our money until the last few days. Then we ran away with it 104-87. It was 46-38 on the Gold Medal Count. China is supposed to be our new rival to replace the USSR. The United States has now won five straight Summer Olympics since the collapse of the Soviet Union. Russia didn't do too bad winning 82 Medals. Only five behind China. Not bad considering that Russia is down to 139 million people compared to China's 1.3 BILLION. And I think China is cheating.

I think China will win the most medals, but I certainly don't put the U.S. as third. And the only reason China will win more is because of the stress the put on their athletes.

Looks like USA Today ...
is actively trying to demoralize the USA Athletes ..
good grief .. I just looked at the medal count ..
US/China have been going back and forth for the lead ..
and GB/Russia are now in the same situation (Going back and forth) .. for 3rd in medal count ..
(and they are at least 20 behind USA/China's count .. )

What do you expect from a member of the Democratic Media Complex...to play down anything positive about the USA....Afterall, we have to knock that chip off the citizens shoulders.......they actually think that USA is #1.....POTUS OBEYME is about to change

Last I saw USA was 2 medals ahead of China and Russia was a distance 5th. 3rd was great Britain.

what qualifies them to predict something like that? I'd like to hear their reasoning. Sometimes the media will say anything to stir up controversy when in reality they don't even care about the issue.
