or a soccer player, just saying since we are trying to get the sport popular. like maybe Christie Rampone, Hope Solo, or Abby Wambach. A woman and a soccer player. I think that would be so very memorable and a great representation of the USA. We want soccer to be popular and a woman would also be a great representation of the equality we are working towards in America.

A legal American citizen ( not with dual citizenship elsewhere and non felon ) actually participating in the Olympics should bear our flag for the USA if such a thing would reflect favourably on the USA....

I'd pick an ordinary member of the public who had done something spectacular. A person who has volunteered working with disadvantaged kids their whole lives, a pilot who successfully lands his land in a river without a single fatality, someone who risked their life against the odds to save another and give them to carry the flag as they would be the most deserving people of this honour.

How about you dont worry about it and try to stop making issues with every thing. Oh and by the way, wasn't Phelps caught smoking a bong? it is but that flag is as huge as it is heavy. they should have made sure that the one carrying it could handle it (and was taller) or made a flag slightly smaller so that it would be displayed honorably. I am sure the flag holder had something to say. any real american would be concerned with the way he/she is holding the flag. we are taught that before we hit primary school.
