Manchester United plays Schalke in the UEFA Champions League on May 4, 2011.
The UEFA Champions League playoffs is watched by tens of millions of football fans...are you one of them? No, not American Football fans and not American football. We're talking European Football, which is also known as "soccer" or "futbol" in the States. Americans aren't the only ones on the Internet watching and discussing sports. Some Americans actually watch European football games.
The UEFA Champions League trophy is considered the most prestigious club trophy in the sport. The UEFA Champions League ends with awarding the UEFA Cup on Saturday May 28, 2011 at Wembley Stadium in London, UK. Most Americans probably don't even know about this insanely popular championship or the teams playing in the May 4th match, which features favored Manchester United vs. Fußball-Club Gelsenkirchen-Schalke 04 (also known simply as "Schalke").
Americans may consider the sport boring, but this match should be very exciting. Manchester United has already beaten Schalke once in the 2011 playoffs. But don't count Schalke out -- they desperately need a win and will pin their hopes on the high-scoring Raúl González.
Man U fans can easily find UEFA Champions League on the "tele" in an English pub or in the comfort of their flats. Some lucky Manchester fans will watch the game live from the stands of Old Trafford stadium. Schalke fans will also have many options of watching their German football club on television. Americans have a minor time zone problem -- the game starts in the middle of the workday at 2:30 p.m. EST/11:30 a.m. PST. Fox Sports' FX channel will broadcast the game live with English-language coverage in high definition, but the average American sports bar will have "soccer" on the small TV in while ESPN highlights endlessly repeat on the big screens.

RV ~ The Peacekeeper of PHAET 2011/05/04 17:01:08I plan to watch United vs Schalke

Yes, I watch. We got hooked because of the kids playing but have since been to Old Trafford where ManU play and the World Cup all over over Germany, in 2006. (And Stade de France, but who cares - that's France). Hopefully the economy will allow us to visit at least one game for Euro 2012.
My son and I will be cheering on ManU.
I'd rather have my teeth pulled!
Go Schalke!
