Twilight is an action-packed modern-day love story between a teenage girl named Bella Swan and Edward Cullen, a vampire. Twilight is not your usual high-school romance series. Edward and Bella's passionate love for each other leads to a constant struggle to keep Bella alive and unharmed.

Harry Potter is a series of adventures of a young wizard named Harry Potter and his two wizard friends Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger. The story is based upon Harry's struggle against an evil wizard Lord Voldermort who killed Harry's parents to conquer their world.

Twilight
I don't think people are really truly fighting over it.... some are, but some are interpreting it as a fun discussion.
So, why do you like Twilight better?
Twilight
Harry Potter
Harry Potter
Harry Potter
please dont leave mean replies! this is my opinion you shouldnt even be affected by it!
To some extent, I can understand why people like the series, but as an avid reader and writer, there are a lot of better books out there.
Just sayin'.
EDIT: Typo :)
Once again, to you she may be a fantastic author, but as I stated, she is not in the literary community. She will never be considered a great author by the vast majority of people who study literature or are serious about writing. The Twilight series will not be considered a classic one hundred years from now. It will probably get a few notations in history books and the almanacs about revenue and the like, but most classes will probably not be even mentioning it anywhere in the curriculum or it won't be re-published as much as Dickens and Shakespeare are today. That is mainly because it is mostly viewed as a fad that will fade out relatively soon - probably not long after Breaking Dawn is released to DVD. The book series itself was, overall, relatively unpopular (compared to Harry Potter and other books) until the movie came out. It's mainly popular because of Pattinson and Lautner, and the fact that nearly all teenage girls think they're in love with one guy or the other. This is not enough for it to really withstand the...

It's mainly popular because of Pattinson and Lautner, and the fact that nearly all teenage girls think they're in love with one guy or the other. This is not enough for it to really withstand the test of time. Having two good looking young men star in the adaptation of her book series does not make her a fantastic author - which the majority of fans seem to think (I'm not saying that you do at all. I'm mainly talking about the Twilight fans who only say "Edward is hot!" as their reason for liking it).
If she publishes more books that are of a higher quality than the Twilight "Saga" then maybe, but she'll most certainly have to get over her extreme paranoia about being leaked before that can possibly happen. She would also need to take a bit more than a few months to complete a novel and begin trying to publish it. If she would pay more attention to characterization and if she was more careful about word choice than she was about trying to beat the readers with a thesaurus to sound more intelligent, then Twilight would have had the potential to be a much better series than it actually is.
All I'm saying is that Meyers is not currently considered to be a fantastic author by anyone in the literature field.
Look, I'm just explaining why I disagree with your statement and why many other people I know would as well. You're free to think that she is, but for me, she has a long way to go before I would ever describe her as fantastic.
Harry Potter

but let me get one thing straight, Twilight could of been more exceptional towards me, and i can't speak on behalf of all you others, there's a slight feeling in me that believe this goes to you all as well. If it weren't for the HIGHLY ANNOYING FAN BASE. then maybe i wouldn't be to harsh reviewing the twilight series, but it's different, These fans literally EXAGGERATE on how "GOOD" the books are. Honestly, the plot mainly (AND YES! I'M QUOTING ON ALL THE ACTORS and ACTRESSES IN THE FILM) this plot MAINLY focuses on a "love triangle" between bella, edward, and jacob. does that not say enough for all you fanatics? how lame can that story line be? honestly, In the book, there is BARELY any action as how the film directors had exaggerated it. Especially in the last/4th book. Even the writer HERSELF, had to admit on holding back any actions that would add a spice to an ending. I believe, that ...

I believe, that majority of the fan base are females who FANTASIZE about the male actors in the film (i.e. "EDWARD IS HOT!") and that being the ONLY reason to why they think the film is "THE GREATEST OF ALL TIME"
and don't get me started on how annoying kristen stewart acting is, that also made me look down to the film/books.. she's pretty and all, but I defintely would of preferred emily browning casted as bella swan.
now, don't get me wrong, it was enjoying to read the books. but it's definitely, not worth to buy them and waste your money on the series. twilight is NOTHING compared to harry potter.
About the writting of the twilight books, Stephenie Meyer writes as if she's writing for little kids. There's no way she can write a creative a wonderful paragraph discovering a scenery as well as how JK rowling can. JK uses words vocabulary that a lot of kids would go "uhh, i dont know how to say that" at least thats what happened to me when i was younger. But now, I'm 17 and greatly appreciate her hard work in writting these books 15 years?. A good book MUST have writing that even adults can be fascinated by. Unlike Twilight. I'm sorry if I'm degrading twilight. But maybe if you fans would just be a little easy on the annoyance level.
sorry if i go on about this too much, maybe i should just create a blog on how i really feel about the comparisons. haha
and one last thing, all you "fans" need to grow up with her little frenzy of love for twilight, sooner or later you will look back and think "wtf was i thinking?" you either get over and grow up now, or forever regret your annoying past.
Harry Potter
-JK actually spent more time on her plot (15yrs) where Stephanie just had a dream and wrote it down and went along with it as she went which affected her plot greatly.
-Jk is an AMAZING writer. Everything is very captivating, deep and makes you want to keep reading. Meyer's writing is weak and very simple and just uses random big words when she makes it need to seem smart.
-Harry potter is not just geared towards 15 year old girls with self esteem issues. Harry potter is for all ages and children, teens, and adults alike love it.
-The plot in harry potter new and creative, stephanie's isn't, how many vampire/human love stories are there?
-Jk's characters and very well described, developed and imagined. You can relate to their problems and are just like real people. Most of Meyer's characters (not all) are all annoying, and rather dimwitted and thruthfully I don't think I'd want to relate to them.
Harry Potter
I read all four Twilight books. I've never been so scared from a book in my life.
I think that the Twilight and Harry Potter series...
Thanks! :)
2) Twilight doesn't have wolves. It has shape-shifters. Not wolves, not werewolves.
3) The characters... could you explain further? I felt the Twilight characters were pretty weak, personally.
Thanks for calmly explaining your opinion. :)
I don't mind Pattinson too much. I mean as Diggory he was at least a little bit handsome, so I sort of blame his stylist for whatever's up with him now. Or maybe I should just credit the HP stylist for being able to make him look handsome? ;)
Harry Potter
Even if I think Harry Potter is much better than Twilight both in terms of plot complexity and character development, Meyer's Twilight isn't totally awful. Sure her vampires sparkle, but she gave the protagonist a reason to be completely bitter about his life. Which sorta explains why Edward eventually becomes so obsessed with Bella, seeing her as his one true salvation or something. If we take that obsession down a couple of notches, I'm sure many girls would find that very romantic. Meyer knows how to manipulate this desire for romance and so stretches Edward's and Bella's relationship to the point of life and death, keeping it suspenseful enough to ensnare her young readers into thinking that real love is really that extreme. Despite all my misgivings about Meyer, you got to give the lady some props. Anyone that is able to write a sparkly male character into a dreamy hunk in the eyes of thousands of females has to have some modicum of talent.
Harry Potter
Therefore I support Harry Potter completely.
Not to mention, that Fred, George, Ron, and Seamus are all breath taking, while Edward looks as though he's had a tad too much botox and the fact that he sparkles in the sunlight makes me wish Stephanie Meyer had never been thought of.
