TRON:Legacy
-------------------
Alright, So i'm one of the biggest fans of the original TRON There is, The graphics weren't that great but when the film it self came out it was possibly known as the 'Avatar' of the 20th Century. Now that technology has improved, Of course the TRON World is going to get a extremem makeover, and a very stylished one if i may say so.
but I have been anxious to see this movie ever since San Diego Comic Con 2008 when Disney put out test footage for the possible sequel to 1982's Tron. Due to incredibly positive feedback, Tron 2 was officially in the works. I Have been searching message boards for any type of news i could find, Then Dec.17th finally came, I Go into the theater at MIDNIGHT with high expectations, Did they live up to my expectations? In a way, Yes, But also in a way, No.
I Will start off by saying that this movie, As you may have already heard from many others that it looks absoloutely beautiful and stunning in 3-D, Just so much fun to watch the action sequences come out at you, Especially the begining Light-Cycle race, That was very fun to watch. So yes, The visuals in this film are just not only mind blowingly amazing, But they are indeed better than the graphic visuals in Avatar, Or at least in my oppinon they are.
Now the acting in the movie, It was alright, the acting is not nearly as bad as many make it out to be. Garrett Hedlund does a great job as Sam Flynn. He really became the character in it and he really did know how to turn on his seriousness but is also the type of guy who can crack a few jokes at the same time. Jeff Bridges returning as Kevin Flynn, But Jeff Bridges is always great in all the movies that he is in, And Kevin Flynn is just a very loveable character to have in the Tron universe, He also does a great job as Clu. He is a very menacing villain that can also be quite relatable at the same time with trying to get what he thinks he deserves and what not, Olivia Wilde's Character Quorra, It's not that she is a bad actress because she actually is a very good one, But i think it might have just been the character she played and how she was written in the movie, Up to the part with the bar until then her character is very annoying, Micheal Sheen just does a fantastic preformance as Castor/Zeus. He just eats up every scene that he is in and he really stole the show for me. My favorite character along with Kevin. And last but certainly not least Bruce Boxleitner returning as Alan and Tron Himself, Did a great job.
The Story was very easy to follow, But it is way, way too easy to follow. I Was hoping for a story a little bit more than what i had but, i won't complain to much on the story of it, Ecxept that it was one of my only dis-likes in the film, My other is that towards the middle and end the film starts to drag alot, I mean the action scenes were fun..But then they start talking with horrible dialouge and it just drags, and drags, Which i hate in a movie is when you get bored, Especially in a film that you have been inticipating since 2008.
A Quick last minute thing i forgot to add earlier is that i absoloutely loved Daft Punk's score for the movie. I'm a huge fan of Daft Punk and their score fits PERFECTLY with this movie. I'm glad that they changed their style a little bit for the movie so that it's not just techno the entire time.
So Tron:Legacy gets slow and the story is as thin as paper, But it is a very fun movie,
I'll give TRON:Legacy a 7.5/10

I think the new one looks great too, but I think it is impossible to compare them because such different techniques were used to create each one.
Loved Daft Punk too... some of those drum sounds in the bar scene were AMAZING! And, Daft Punk does a lot more than straight up techno (example "Digital Love"). I'm pretty sure that was them DJing in that club, too.
I think there had to be an element of Naivete within Olive Wilde's character because of the fact that she was an iso... I dunno. I was ready to suspend all belief and just love that movie and I'm glad I did, but the one question I still have is: how did Quorra make it into our world without her disk? I thought that was her in the card Sam placed around his neck in the end...
Yeah, It was them in the bar which was pretty cool, Also that the bar scene is where the best score does come in, So stylish. I LOVE IT!
I think it was confirmed by one of the film makers that Quorra's programs turned into her body? And then her disk was like her brain or something? I Don't know, That's what i heard.
The Daft punk score was really amazing as i said, very fun to listen too and you will want to run out and buy the soundtrack after the movie ends, wich is what i did.
