Transgender beauty queen Jenna Talackova may have a shot at the Miss Universe Canada title after all.
The 23-year-old, who was born male, was disqualified last month as a finalist from the upcoming Miss Universe Canada pageant. However, Donald Trump's Miss Universe Organization announced on Monday that it might reverse its earlier decision and let her compete, The Associated Press reports.
The rules of the contest say entrants must be "naturally born" females. Talackova says she has lived her life as a female since age 4, began hormone therapy at 14 and changed sex at 19.
But not long after Talackova announced her plans to hold a news conference with scandal-magnet lawyer Gloria Allred on Tuesday, the Miss Universe Organization said in a statement on the Miss Universe Canada website that Talackova can compete "provided she meets the legal gender recognition requirements of Canada, and the standards established by other international competitions."

It should be based upon intelligence and the ability to handle tense situations.
HOWEVER, a competition for birthright women should not allow men who have mutiliated their genitalia to enter. Why not just let anything enter a woman's competition at that point?
As for having a gay president, I'd vote for one that I think could run my country and cares about his/her citizens. His/her sexuality is none of my business.
He was born a perfectly normal healthy baby boy, with normal XY chromosomes. Somewhere along the way, he became psychologically screwed up and started wishing he were a girl (maybe to get Mommy's attention in a family with 4 boys?)
Actually..., that is something that neither a man or a woman is born with.., so that makes Trans unique, and I am being sincere where this matter is concern. They are as unique as a hermaphrodite, so, why don't they put in place a movement to gain recognition the same way gays do, oppose to try and to move in on the turf of a gender that has already been established?
Now for all of you that don't like my opinion, let me save you some time..., I really do not care. It is my opinion..., just like you have yours, I wont try to impose on yours.., so I am asking that you do the same where mine is concern..JOMO
Unless government funds are included.., the private sector should have the rights to set their own rules ( Bi Laws). I think it would be totally unfair for a man to change his sexual preference to a woman and then be included in a woman's tennis match. Even though he is now considered a woman, she still have the skeletal structure of a man as well as the strength of a man.
So my opinion has nothing to do with any kind of a phobia so much as it does looking at the reality of..., WHAT IS....!JOMO
-Jenna Talackova: She is now legally a woman. Get used to it Canada. I expected better from a nation like yours.
-Vanessa Williams: She has the right to pose nude, or do whatever nude. Prude America, so proud of being ''the land of liberty'': WAKE UP!!!
-Tara Conner: As for drunk driving, we all make mistakes. As for drug usage, expelling her from the competition is surelly not gonna help her. Wild partying, it's her life. Yet again, prude America: WAKE UP!!!
-Carrie Prejean: While totally opposing her anti-same-sex marriage statement, America has nothing to do with her sex life, or with tapes of her having sex. It is her life (although having nothing against a sex tape and something against same-sex marriage does not, in any way possible, make sense to me). Yet again, prude America: WAKE UP!!!
-Lauren Caitlin Upton: DUH!!! There was a controversy with this? Let's see: The question wasn't really smart, so, why is this a controversy?
-Katie Rees: Another controversy with photos? Oh gosh. Let's see. What do people have to do with her life? Oh yah, the answer is simple: NOTHING!!! Yet again, prude America: WAKE UP!!!
-Lindsey Evans: OK, she forgot to pay, but also she forgot her purse in there, wich means, she did not want to go without paying. She simply forgot to pay. Moreover, her marijuana is her marijuana. It's her life. Prude America, for the last time:
In my opinion, a transgender contestant is a "natural born female" at heart - where it counts. Jenna Talackova is stunning - and the controversy will generate more viewers!
She certainly isn't the first pageant contestant to have used surgery to enhance her physical appeal
The truth is "biological reality" is no longer the standard for beauty pageant contestants
http://dearpageantgirl.wordpr...
Incidentally "biological reality" was once used to define race.
I believe race & gender to be a social construct.
As humans we share common ancestry. The same DNA.
We are the same - at heart - where it counts.
