For over 20 years, when a Batman movie was due to hit theaters, everyone knew that it would be event -- and “The Dark Knight Rises” just might have been the most anticipated flick of them all. But after Friday morning’s tragic event in Aurora, Colorado, it seems like a perhaps unshakable black cloud might hang over the final installment of Christopher Nolan’s trilogy.

Tragedy Strikes at u2018Dark Knight u2019 Screening Will the Movie Now Be Cursed

The alleged masked gunman, 24-year-old James Holmes, killed 12 and injured many more. And as the details continue to unfold, no doubt the film itself will come under considerable scrutiny. One eyewitness on the “Today” show, said that she first thought the shooter was part of the spectacle of Thursday night’s midnight show -- just another guy in a costume, like so many others in the theater.

In an eerie similarity, the “Dark Knight’s” villain Bane leads a gang of bad guys into a football stadium in a bullet and explosive fueled rampage. Chaos ensues in a public space. Not the first time that’s the case in any action movie, let alone one that stars the Caped Crusader.

Warner Bros., the studio behind the summer blockbuster, has canceled tonight’s premiere in Paris. And according to breaking news, they’re considering canceling weekend screenings of the film. The New York Police Department has announced that they’ll be amping up security at theaters showing the “Dark Knight Rises.” And odds are a few moviegoers will be deterred from rushing out to see the film at a cineplex near them any time soon. The pall that this tragedy cast might just spell doom for “The Dark Knight Rises.” What do you think: Will the movie now be cursed?

I'm not concerned about the movie being cursed.I'm concerned about guns and gun laws being blamed for the incident and not the mental case behind the trigger.

It's not cursed, but it is a bit scary going to it, knowing what happened. When we went to watch it, there was a security guard hired by the theater in there for a while off to the side. It was freaking us out because we couldn't see all of him and he was just watching the movie really intently. It was hard not to look over your shoulder the whole time, but that's not a curse, that's just because of how recently it happened. The tragedy is still really fresh in everyone's minds. Watching the movie brings it to the forefront, and it does sully the experience some and ruin some of the enjoyment of watching it. But it's not cursed.

180,000 miles, but even with all these miles, I still feel my accidents were NOT the cars fault. (FYI...it's been a very good car. Auto trans went out at 140,000, and I did get a salvage one for $300. + $300. install.)

Although the perpetrator of the massacre described himself as "The Joker" which clearly demonstrates that the Batman franchise is an element however the gunlaws should be the bigger concern. I do not believe in magical curses.

The incident on Friday is down to the lax gun laws in America and is not down to a curse on The Dark Knight Film.
Tighter gun controls are required to stop these maniacs getting guns and destroying the lives of their victims and families. Action must be taken now to prevent this from happening again.

It is a story that draws a lot of people, including some crazies. That is true of many stories. The story or the film did not mke this shooting, a crazy man did.

Actually, "Dark Knight" has made the 2nd greatest amount of money ever for a 3D movie. What haopened was a tragedy but it definitely didnt stop people from going. it kind of encouraged them in a sick way

We may not have to talk about gun control but maybe ammunition control. This individual was able to purchase an obscene amount of ammunition. I thing we should examine how much ammunition is allowed to be purchased. I think that the amount of ammunition an individual can purchase at onetime should be controlled. I think the law should have exceptions for legitimate firing ranges and private individuals you have there own private firing ranges on their property.

This is (Western) cultural thing. Many years ago there was a movie released about NYC street gangs called "The Warriors" which went to great lengths (Slo-Mo too) with graphic violence.

There were dozens of Fist-i-Cuffs & Knifings occurring in the cinéma or outside just after the show across the continent..

blaming violence on dark content is just another ploy by illiberals to promote totalitarian govt .... free speech (no matter how dark) is a core aspect of maintaining liberty

It's just 1 isolated incident by a psycho with a gun....

The movie is still amazing and fans will still want to see it
There'll be a few paranoid people that think it will happen again, but there probably won't be that big of a drop in people
