People were so wrapped up in the Tom Cruise/Katie Holmes divorce story last week that his milestone birthday came in with a whimper. As one of Hollywood’s biggest movie icons of all time, one would think that Tom Cruise's 50th birthday would have warranted an all-star bash with some of his most glamorous castmates.

Instead, Cruise was seen boarding a private jet at Reykjavik airport for a most likely mundane flight back to his home in California. Of course, that’s not how he supposedly planned to spend the momentous occasion. Until a few days ago, when his soon-to-be-ex wife Katie Holmes announced she was filing for divorce, he had reportedly planned a family fueled outdoorsy day hiking in Iceland.

The shattered birthday plans are just the latest blow in a string of humiliations the mega-star has suffered lately. First, his turn as the rock god Stacee Jaxx in “Rock of Ages” flopped with an opening weekend box office take of just over $15 million. Then, his young bride allegedly blindsided him by filing for divorce -- and seeking sole custody of their daughter, Suri Cruise.

Plus, there’s all of the press coverage of the potentially damaging role that Cruise’s dedication to Scientology played in the demise of his marriage. The constantly playing videotapes of him jumping on Oprah’s couch and haranguing Matt Laeur about psychiatry play like a barrage of Cruise’s lowest moments. It appears that the movie star might have peaked at 49 and that 50 might mark the beginning of his demise. What do you think: Is Tom Cruise still in his prime?

Granted, he still looks good for 50. But his career is "Over"!!! When he left Nicole so abruptly I loss respect for him. Katie "NEVER" looked happy with him. He seems like a control freak. Once his latest movie bombed Katie wanted to get the f**k outta there. I don't blame her for leaving his controlling ass.

Anyone that has done what he has to his wives is not someone I could even watch in a movie. His Scientology crap is the pits !! He is a control freak and disgusts me!! I hope Kate gets Suri and all his money and control won't stop her!!

In "A Few Good Men" Demi Moore was the better of the lot. Having sat on a Court Martial, JAG officers don't have to be babysat like the character Cruise played. Except for hype, the rest of his movies don't have a lot of substance to brag about..

He is a great actor! It's sad his wife went nut's and did that to him. They have a freagin kid together! Does that mean anything to women anymore? I have had so many friends and family go through a divorce over the last few years it's amazing! All but one of them was the wife getting the divorce because they are not happy with one thing or another. Tearing their families apart all because of (their) happiness! I know there are a few women out there that are not like this, but what the hell is wrong with these Women that are filling for divorce 2/3 of the time now? And Women wonder why some guy's refuse to get married anymore. Many guy's are getting smart now with all the unstableness, locking our finances down, and staying single because all of these divorces women file now! It's a joke! Mos't all guy's out there really just want a stable wife they can count on, trust, raise a family with, and grow old with. It seems now day's once the husband makes a few mistakes or the wife gets unhappy about something she will tear a family apart at the drop of a dime with a divorce!

Don't do so much generalizing. My dad cheated on my mom when I was just four years old and filed for divorce. It's not just women who file. And if she does there's normally good reason behind it. You're making yourself sound sexist and bitter.

I didn't say all women file for divorce. Some guy's deserve it, but it is a proven fact 2/3 of all married women file for divorce now. That proves that there may be a problem with many women out there having way too high of expectations of their husband or they just can't keep a family together like they should be doing.

Aside from everything that has recently happened to him, he seems to be handling it all well.

Sure, he has had a few moments that some might consider odd, but you must realize that those few incidents happened in a series of more than five years. You wont get very far logic wise if you only hold onto and remember the bad things.
