Celeb gossip addicts appear to be as dazzled by the Tom Cruise-Katie Holmes divorce as they were by the unlikely romance to begin with. So, consider us obsessed! And the big question on everyone's minds is: Which Hollywood parent should get Suri Cruise?

Katie dropped a bombshell on Tom when she filed for sole legal custody of 6-year-old Suri. And now, the custody question is the main thing holding up an amicable settlement, TMZ reports. A source told the gossip site that Tom wants "meaningful, significant contact with his daughter." As one source explained: "She is the primary concern in his life."
We're also hearing that Tom and Katie had a pre-nup, so his pre-Katie fortune should be pretty much safe. But Katie can ask for as much child support as she wants. And for a little girl who's been wearing high heels and ball gowns since infancy, we have a feeling those monthly checks are going to be pretty large! We haven't read anything suggesting that Tom hasn't been a great dad, so we're not sure that Katie should be awarded sole legal custody as she requested. What do you think?

Zuggi 2012/07/09 15:19:24Katie Holmes+13Keeping her daughter out of the cult is crucial. Look what happened when the Kidman/Cruise kids were granted joint custody. Scientology defectors claim they saw and took part in brainwashing designed to make the kids believe that Kidman was a psychopath. If Cruise gets joint custody, and therefore the right to make religious decisions for the child, it's highly likely that the same thing would happen again.

reply - pamela 2012/07/10 17:34:10They should split it 50-50+1I know the custody will probably go to Katie, but the Father ( Tom ), should still be part of his child's life. She, Suri, needs to know that she will be loved by both indefinitely regardless of who gets custody. Children these days that are affected by parents decisions to divorce, some get really depressed, because of the emotional drain of both side s hating each other. If parents who divorce can get past their own troubles and live for their kids, makes children of divorce, better off.reply
- BERYL 2012/07/10 17:30:24Katie HolmesLittle girls need their mothers more than their fathers. The reverse is true of boys who need their fathers more than their mothers.. You don't have to look long to find what happens to many boys with no male parent.reply

+1Excuse me, but could you please clarify what you mean by "You don't have to look long to find what happens to many boys with no male parent."? My fiancé was raised by his mother alone, until the age of 15, when is mother got together with is now step-father. He had no 'male parent' until they married when he was 18. I don't tend to get offended by internet posts, as I don't really care that people have differing opinions to me, and take things with a pinch of salt, but this one just hit a personal note. My fiancé is a wonderful young man who has been raised by a remarkable and brave woman. He is a kind, loving, traditional and intelligent gentleman. Anyone from any family can turn out anyway. I'm not having a go, or starting an argument. I just want to know what you mean by your choice of words, and explain my own experience of a boy being raised without a male parent.reply - dr blais 2012/07/10 17:14:01

- cddjmikey 2012/07/10 16:27:34Katie Holmes+1Since it is rumored that Tom wished to have Euro sent to camp to get indoctrinated then if that is found to be true Katie should get sole custody. As an offset, Tom can have visitations whenever it is possible with her schedule, as long as they are loosely supervised to keep him from taking her to "camp". She will also ask for a lower child support, say $5K a month.reply
- tomnchrist 2012/07/10 16:18:47They should split it 50-50+1I understand the indoctrination danger of the Scientology cult, and the judge could control that with restrictions, but Dads are human too! Their love for the child is just as important to Dad and to the child as the mother's.reply

- EricW 2012/07/10 16:10:49They should split it 50-50I don't see any reason why it should not be split. Why is she asking for sole custody in the first place? Without serious cause it just seems unfair to the child.reply
- Fredrick House 2012/07/10 16:07:22Katie HolmesUnless (not shown) she is an unfit parent a child this age should go with the mother in most cases.reply

+2Speaking as the father of a daughter, I find your statement offensive. WHY should the mother automatically get custody? I was just as much my daughter's parent when she was 6 as my wife. Many dads ARE there for their kids - at all ages. You statement is unjustified bias from the 1800's!reply - gmiing 2012/07/10 15:38:04Katie Holmes+3Suri appears to spend more time with her mom so Katie should be custodial parent and Tom - who appears to have a pretty erratic work schedule - should get visitation during those times he's offreply

- princessDGAF 2012/07/10 15:20:05They should split it 50-50There is no reason that the mother should automatically be awarded sole custody. In my opinion, it should be equally shared as each parents schedule allows. Fathers are parents too and society needs to stop acting like fathers are only here for sperm and a check. (and this is coming from a single mother who is owed ALOT of back child support so I do know of the other side of the coin!~)reply

- Gddyupn 2012/07/10 15:07:55 (edited)Katie Holmes+1Katie Holmes should have sole legal custody. Legal custody being different from physical custody. I am leery of giving the right to make legal decisions to someone who is a member of a religion that is unorthodox at best, damaging and cult-like at worst. I think Tom is the child's father though, and he should have generous physical visitation. Otherwise, you will mystify him, and as she gets older Suri will want to know more about him, and be drawn to him and his somewhat...suspect practices. And possibly even resent her mother for taking her away from her father. The best way for Suri to know who he is, and choose to be different, is for Katie to educate the child to her belief system, and then expose Suri to Tom and let her make her own, educated decision to be different.reply
