Tom and Katie’s Divorce Settlement Details Revealed: Did Katie Get What She Deserved?

When Katie Holmes ambushed Tom Cruise by filing for divorce back in June, everyone seemed to believe that her motives were simply Suri-related. That’s a good thing considering that as details of the Tom-Kat settlement are leaked, Holmes clearly didn’t get a lot more than what she bargained for.

katie holmes

Not that most people wouldn’t be more than content with Holmes’ take. She’ll receive roughly $33,000 a month in child support for Suri. That’s $400,000 a year until Suri is 18 for those whose minds can’t comprehend such a staggering annual figure. The money must be used to cover the six-year-old’s day-to-day expenses. But her movie star daddy will have to kick in extra for big ticket items like medical costs, health insurance, education and extracurricular activities.

That might sound like a lot of dough until you consider the fact that Cruise is worth an estimated $250 million and Holmes got nothing in spousal support. That said she scored the one major win that all sources seem to believe that she was after. The couple agreed that Suri is not allowed to attend a “residential school.” That means not only that she can’t be carted off to a traditional boarding type or one run by Scientology either. What do you think: Did Katie get what she deserved?

The girl wanted away from that lunatic. She learned that some fantasies should STAY fantasies and to be careful what she wishes for!

At least Suri is away from him and they can start their life over in the right way...with a SANE person.

As long as Holmes is happy with the result and her daughter is safe; it looks like everyone got what they wanted.

She didn't earn his money and she understands that. What she deserved was support for Suri as well as control over her upbringing. She got both.

She wanted to sleep with Tom, marry Tom, have a child with Tom and have a fairytale life, but "Maverick" overplayed he hand and she shouldn't have to take that. He won't go into a flat spin, just target another!

shouldn't have run so quick. Should have gotten some money out of it for herself, simply because it is going to be hard to cover that much money per month for just the kid's support. But with a few million total she would not have to account for any of it.

She made a youthful mistake marrying a much older control freak weirdo..but as far as I'm concerned she "derserved" every penny the man has for having to put up with that jackass for all those years. She should have talked to Kidman first.

yeah - she 'deserved' all his money, all those years and years of him working before she even met him, of course she deserves a share of that... she was married for less than 6 years to him, living a lavish lifestyle wanting for nothing - but according to you the poor thing needs to be compensated over 350k for every month they were married.

she has a net worth of $25M on her own and is obviously classy enough to walk away, happy that the father will be generously contributing towards his kids incredibly lavish, wanting for nothing life...
Katie is independently wealthy, thanks to the huge amount of in jewellery, designer handbags and other presents Tom lavished on her during their marriage. "Tom was extremely generous to Katie with lavish gifts during their marriage and she will be keeping millions of dollars of jewellery, Hermes handbags and other luxurious items. "Tom gave Katie diamond earrings as a birthday gift one year that easily cost over $500,000 and he had custom design pieces made for her. Under terms of the divorce, Katie is keeping all of the jewellery, handbags, accessories, and designer clothing" oh dear - must have been horrific living conditions for her...

Katie was prevented from receiving a large settlement due to the couple's pre-nuptial agreement,

That's right. She didn't deserve the money, but the child DID. However, the kid is rotten spoiled and from my perspective is a brat who actually has too much!!

I know a lot of people who were raised without money who are spectacular people. Money doesn't make the kid.

NONE OF THE ABOVE - What kind of silly answers are these??

She is getting 33K a month - gawd how will she keep from starving?? She is a multi millionaire in her own right so I think she can muddle along on an extra 400K per year with ex paying for all the essentials in his daughters life. Don't mistake me, he should and is more than willing to care for his daughter; he obviously loves his child.

Sorry, am not getting teary eyed about how little Holmes took Cruise for - GACK

Katie didn't take any spousal support. The $400K a year is for SURI only. Katie has enough money and class to walk away from what she didn't want and not take anything she doesn't need. He should pay that money for Suri...it is his kid...

Are you sure you know what class actually is? Many celebrities have it. As a matter of fact, because they don't go off on everyone whom thinks these things and tear them a new one means they've got at least some class.

You can't be serious? If you believe Scientology is true, you really need to reassess your mental state. Scientology doesn't help anyone. People are just made to think it helps them. Your very comment of bragging about your IQ shows how ridiculous you are. I really don't care how intelligent you are. There have been extremely intelligent people who have remained spiritually destitute and deluded. Bobby Fischer had forty more points on his IQ than you do, and he was ranting about how the Jews caused all the problems in the world. Great intelligence doesn't have anything to do with whether you know spiritual truth or not. Personally, I don't believe in the revealed religions: Scientology, Abrahamic faiths or anything else. I believe the evidence for God is the creation, and he says hello every day to everyone. That's why there's very few atheists in the world. Everyone's looking for a religion or a philosophy to explain creation and the creator, but I'm afraid that your religion of Scientology is a very recent invention of a man named L. Ron Hubbard. If you're caught up in that false "revealed" religion, you need to seriously reassess your mental state, because you have been brainwashed by a cult. Lastly, I just have to say one thing: Lord Xenu is not real. Lord Xenu was never a Lord in the first place and has never even spoken to anyone. If he has spoken to you, you need to seek psychiatric medication.

Grow up? You need to stop following a manmade religion that was invented by an author who only recently died in 1986. L. Ron Hubbard got you hook, line and sinker.
  • gareth.... POWERSH... 2012/09/21 04:28:04

Why? What business is it of yours that I follow a religion that teaches that man is basically good, that he is an immortal spiritual being, and that there are ways to effectively handle the problems of life, physical, mental and spiritual. I am not trying to convert you; I AM trying to educate you so that you are not ignorant.

What if you're wrong, and Jesus is Lord? What if you don't have Jesus as your savior on judgment day? Then what? Eternal destruction from the presence of the Lord and the glory of his power? Only Jesus died for sinners. Without Jesus, there is no savior. Scientology teaches that man is basically good? Well, I have to news for you. That's not true. Man is depraved… totally depraved. If you don't believe it's true, just open your eyes and consider all the serial killers, child molesters, rapists, thieves and other depraved human beings on this planet. What about all the liars? Do you realize how many people lie? The point is this: the idea that human beings are basically good is a total lie. Even close observation of the human race proves your theory wrong. It's sad that you're seventy years old and still don't know the truth. Have you always lived oblivious to reality? I feel sorry for you.

I really think it is a matter of both, but really if there is a kid involved thats what the main motive is... protect your little one. That is what Katie did and I applaud her bold move without question. If she felt her daughter was in danger that is reason enough to get her away from that environment.
